Description
Celebrated sleuth Hercule Poirot, now retired and living in self-imposed exile in Venice, reluctantly attends a Halloween séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.
for what is happening, good acting, interesting camerawork, beautiful locations
Yes, the plot has been completely changed, but one fact has not changed - the killer himself.
I really like how Kenneth Branagh shot the film. As always atmospheric, everything is in the spirit of Halloween.
I want to watch the film every year on this holiday to feel this atmosphere.
The cast isn't bad either. All the actors are well done, especially the boy who played Leopold (spoiler: in the book he was killed after the murder of his sister Joyce).
And, by the way, did you notice that Kenneth Bran releases films in 3 years? First "Murder on the Orient Express" 2017, then "Death on the Nile" 2020, and now this movie is in 2023.
So, I'm looking forward to another film adaptation of Agatha Christie's book from Kenneth Branagh in 3 years 😉
So I want from the detective the rapid work of the minds and insidious characters, and now they are shooting either the unimaginable savagery of the true edge or tired, exhausted by inner demons, heroes and murderers.
So far, alas, my attempts to catch in the cinema the delight of the triumph of deduction from the first seasons of Sherlock are in vain (
Guessed who the killer was in the middle of the movie. I didn't like the addition of mysticism at the end. But the picture and the scenery are still top. A film on a strong four for me.
"The murder on the Orient Express" felt more like a breakdown of the pen, although it was not devoid of style and atmosphere.
"Death on the Nile" was beautiful, but still quite secondary to UvVE. Even the star caste did not save.
But "Ghosts in Venice " took into account the mistakes of their predecessors and gave an atmospheric and stylish picture, albeit interspersed with rather cheap graphics. It was nice to amuse my ego by guessing the turn and noticing the small details. I enjoyed watching it and hope that Kenneth will not leave his craft.
P.S I am not familiar with the original source, so I watched the film as an independent work, even though I knew that the story of Agatha Christie's pen
A beautiful film with a zero script, undisclosed characters and their relationships, everything is formulaic and flat.
I guessed who the killer was and Who Knew the Most in the first, it seems, 30-40 minutes. And this is considering that I am not friends with deduction. It's good for once. The Orient Express was the best success, imho)
The rest will either go or be fine, but in general without any direct delight (although no one seemed to promise delight yyyy)
