Description
A supernatural tale set on death row in a Southern prison, where gentle giant John Coffey possesses the mysterious power to heal people's ailments. When the cell block's head guard, Paul Edgecomb, recognizes Coffey's miraculous gift, he tries desperately to help stave off the condemned man's execution.
I love and hate this movie equally.
The film is wonderful, but I will never review it in my life, there is too much pain in it for me.
There is no question of what is better and what is worse. Just two different beasts. But still, the film adaptation definitely lacks detail. Both in characterization of the characters and in the plot (even if we take them as two independent works). Therefore, it seems to me that it would be more expedient to make a series, for example, because it is clear that it is extremely difficult to accommodate such a large amount of material in three hours of screen time.
I can't say that I didn't like the film at all and didn't get a chill, but the feeling of a lack of understatement remained for sure. Therefore, I can say that it will be quite problematic for people who have not read the work in the text version, as it seems to me, to really and truly immerse themselves in this picture. To feel the whole range of emotions that Stephen King tried to convey to the reader. Because I am still so deeply impressed by the work that I am not ready to let the book out of my hands. I'm crying. It's fantastic! And immediately after completing the last sentence, I WANTED to flip through all how many... 300-plus pages and START OVER! But I can't say that about the film, I'm unlikely to review it.
Although, again, the visual range in the film turned out to be very good. Especially the character actors. Because they are about something like that when you mentally draw a picture in your head while reading. 🤩✨
❤️❤️❤️
Thanks to the authors for this.
I've run out of nerve. As much as I liked it, it also hurt me.
Like Gollum's with the ring.
