The turbulent 70s. Punk culture is in its heyday and the musical group "Sex Pistols" are at the peak of their popularity. Bassist Sid Vicious (Gary Oldman) meets drug addict Nancy Spungen (Chloe Webb), who dreams of sleeping with all the members of the punk band. The musician falls in love with the girl, but Nancy's heavy craving for heroin drags Sid down with her.

The movie is based on real events that happened to the performer Sid Vicious and his lover Nancy, as well as the history of the "Sex Pistols". The movie includes several recordings of concert performances of the musicians.

They were actually arrested and sentenced to exile from Virginia, but after 9 years they managed to get their marriage recognized as legal. The movie was nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Actress (Ruth Negga).

Screenwriter Eleanor Bergstein wrote a story about her own youth. She was also vacationing with her parents at a summer resort in the Catskills. While on vacation, Bergstine earned the nickname Baby and participated in local "dirty dancing" competitions.

The real Johnny Cash and June Carter personally cast the actors for the lead roles. The movie won Best Picture at the Golden Globes and Reese Witherspoon won an Oscar, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award, and BAFTA for her role as June Carter.
