It's like all the Broadway Glinds came together in one person. Cynthia in the role of Elphaba is one of the most advantageous options. She plays great, both in movies and on Broadway, and her voice is incredibly strong. Well, a 100% jackpot.

The director in the adaptation treated the original production with all respect. Nothing has been redone, all the scenes have been abandoned. There is a cameo by Idina and Kristin and it fits very well into the tape. Well, you can't call it anything other than a gift for musical lovers.

I'm really looking forward to part 2, I think they will already add original scenes and most likely even original songs, since act 2 of the musical is almost half shorter than Act 1.

But I need to clarify that I watched it in the original with subtitles, which I advise you to do. They say that the dubbing of the songs is not so good.

All in all, unexpectedly, it turned out to be a very enjoyable film. Despite the fact that it runs for 3 hours, it was interesting for me to watch it. And although this is only the first act, and there will be a sequel at the end of 2025, the film does not feel like the plot was abruptly cut short. As the authors correctly noted, the song "Defying Gravity" is so powerful that it's as if the curtain should come down after it, because the next scene will no longer be perceived normally without a break. I know that most Russians can't stand musicals, but if you're someone who loves them, then you definitely should watch this movie.

Original, fanfiction, adaptations and variations, musicals and film adaptations, many, many, many things. Therefore, it is not surprising. So is inclusivity. The Little Mermaid bombarded me like many others, but it seems to be fine here, especially since a film based on the adaptation of Volkov is being released for us, before watching which I took up this film, and then let them do what they want. And it turned out well, Erivo really fit in vocally one hundred percent (I watched with two tracks and switched the songs to the original). As a musical, it was good, although it would not eventually displace the favorites in my personal top of the genre. I'll watch the sequel.
