The viewer needs to spend 3 hours on this picture + another 5 on Wikipedia to figure out this vinaigrette
Incapacity is a contrived structure to exploit Indians, as are plans with marriages and murder.
So the viewer just needs to watch carefully.
And the duality of the main character is that he loves his wife, but at the same time he is a rare fool and a bastard, and one of the main conflicts consists. Besides, despite his uncle's threats, he did not give her a full bottle, he was sorry. This constant tossing of gg, the neighborhood of cruelty, absurdity and stupidity is the whole point.
I think the film turned out great, he didn't let me go for 3.5 hours personally.
The film, as for me, generally smacks of the Cohen brothers and that's good)
Martin Scorsese, most likely, realized his long-standing dream / idea with a troupe of actors familiar to him - Denira, Dicapria and others. It looks EPIC, but at the same time it's insipid, like the book that I listened to three or four months ago, and today I looked at this. But what can I say - Daniel Day-Lewis and his Oil were better. But also in justification - this work has absolutely NO literary basis.
It was necessary not to watch the movie under beer, people. You don't tell the boys that you just got a movie with a little girl, they'll laugh.
Such a vile and stupid type - in some places it's hard to even imagine that this is a game, and not really DiCaprio like that)
reading out the fate of Molly by Scorsese himself from the stage is right to the heart💔
It is not surprising that he was criticized, because historical topics are always difficult, and showing a story different from what is written in history textbooks is like rushing into the embrasure of public criticism. It's good that his reputation allows him to ignore this.
I really hope that someday films will appear in Russia that reassemble a look at the past: the conquest of Siberia, the extermination of the male population of the Caucasus and Tatarstan, etc. People will spit and curse, but it is necessary and inevitable.
I expected another movie to be made according to the trailer, just in Scorsese style, where crimes will be mixed with the struggle of good against evil, but here evil sneers, it always needs to raise the degree of inadequacy, and good is banally weak, because it relies on morality, trust and naivety. As a result, the mare is ridden until the rider is thrown off by outsiders.
I understand why it was like that then, the state needed workers, they were more important: creating a police state, while tons of gold and oil are mined per day, few things can be so pleasing, and recruiting police is much less profitable than collecting thousands of former soldiers to the mines. This is why the level of violence, theft and ambition among people who are not much of themselves is growing.
So Ernest Burkhart came and for his "merits" in the service, he considered that a good life was written for him automatically. Honestly, it's still an interesting character for psychological analysis, according to the trailer, I thought he would be a fighter against this system, but in fact he is almost a weak infantile and only towards the end his features of not the smartest representative of society appear, although this can be understood from the initial scene with the question about books, but it seemed that he He's just worried about the king. The king is also quite a fruit, he was not at all shy to arrange a real pogrom in the most light-colored way in a few years, since you have such super resources, it was impossible to stretch it for 20 years, no, you have to beat with a bang, but probably it's for the best, because it became almost elementary to get them.
The motivation of the Indians to give out their women and the women themselves to marry foreigners was not disclosed to me, maybe they really fell in love with such charismatic ones, or thought that crossing nations was useful for security, but in general it was very disastrous and they paid a lot.
The topic was raised interesting, of course, here you have the sad truth of the reduction of the Indian population, in the beginning we were deliberately shown America, in which almost Indians, not like current African Americans, and then immediately transferred to the deaths and reflections of the character Lily Gladstone, who was the same victim. Doctors give out lethal drugs, as if referring to the topic of intervention in childbirth on reservations, rich officials promise to take care, and themselves in a bundle, and so on. And as a result, the newspaper clipping does not even mention the whole tragedy, preferring to forget everything like a terrible dream.
I wonder what the original timing of the painting was, how many details had to be removed, and after all, questions always remain, probably more answers in the book version. As a result, even at the end they tell us straight - read it. But not only that, in fact, at the end the film splashes out the main idea, at first I was embarrassed by this, in fact they began to read us a book with the result, as if in the style of a happy ending, but in stand-up, where the white rich sigh from boredom. As a result, in general, this is a description of us and them and of culture in general, where in the credits we were told: "and they lived happily ever after " and as if the problem or morality fades into the background....
They are still fighting for pieces of land in the world, turning some nations into inferior ones, expelling peoples and saying, I don't like what happened 90 years ago, let's rewrite it on the battlefield. Now this is probably the most relevant film on a par with Oppenheimer, where geniuses show that CINEMA is not only about entertainment, or the victories of goodness. This is about the self-development of a society where humanism is not just a slogan, or respect is not to replace a comma in words and do whatever your heart desires. And immediately you understand who Ernest Burkhart is, a man who is ready to turn a blind eye to a crime for the sake of a goal, because it coincides with the goal of the king, who gently and appealing to God
passes sentences. And the FBI does not come when they are asked for help, but when everything has already been lost. People started moving further away from their civilized neighbors or lost their lives.
And of course the guardianship law is complete nonsense, I wonder which politician came up with such a disastrous law for small nations.
Was Scorsese able to teach or give advice to anyone in this world? I think he did it, anyway, those who justify aggression or their ambitions are unlikely to watch such works.

It seems to be a good cast, it seems to be a famous director, and the plot is quite good, but apparently 3.5 hours of timing is still too much for such a story.
In general, it's not bad, you can watch it (while there are still such directors)
3.5/5.
Let's look at the Oscars, and if they take a ride there too, it's only fair.
Despite the fact that I read the book version and the same associations... everything is very sad and I completely do not understand the sobbing snot of some. Mediocrity and nothing more...
It's a good film because it shows the struggle of that part of humanity that is greedy, cruel, ready to do anything for power and money, and the one that cannot/does not want to resist another, or tries, but loses/wins ridiculously little every time.
It turned out to be one of a million variations of injustice, which once again made me feel my own helplessness, draw parallels and be horrified that nothing has changed in a century.
From a visual point of view, this film is gorgeous, but the presentation of the story, the characters, the acting, the dialogue - it all looked like some kind of ridiculous misunderstanding. I didn’t feel the story from the word at all. The worst role of Leo. I got the impression that he just came straight from the plastic clinic to filming, and they didn’t even give him a script, so he had to improvise (I understand, most likely his character was written that way, like a short-sighted fool, but half the characters there are like that!!!). Detective line... can I call it that? All these plot twists seemed so soulless to me, may film experts forgive me! Scorsese has never been my favorite director, I’m more inclined towards Ridley Scott and Tarantino, but I definitely expected something from this picture, and what I can’t even understand and remember now. The movie is heavy, without any dynamics, intrigue, interesting prototypes or theme development.
A lot of people will disagree with me, but this is my honest opinion just after watching this for 3 hours and 30 minutes in theatre, what was torture cuz the movie didn’t get my attention.
The film is wildly delayed, it could easily fit in 2 hours. There are a lot of long and unnecessary scenes.
The epilogue is just a disgrace, even the white text describing the fate of the characters is better than this theatricality.
The weakest Scorsese movie I've ever seen. My grandfather became old.
It would probably be more interesting for me to see from the FBI agents how they collect information, put together a puzzle, set up networks, and here herax one of the suspects was killed in a robbery. Constantly so that everything slips away. It feels like some kind of mastermind is behind everything.
Ernest is still a whiner - I love my wife, then I will kill all her relatives and she does not understand what I will work for, uncle obeys this implicitly, understanding what kind of person he is. You'll be next on the list of victims for such an uncle. I could have lived well, in prosperity, with my wife and children, but I ruined my whole life. Fate punished him with the death of his daughter, it remains to be hoped that this death is natural.
Molly is also difficult to understand. Do you still think about forgiving a person and living with him further when he is involved in the death of your loved ones?!
In general, the film is necessary. The main actors played beautifully. Leo is very suitable for the role of De Niro's nephew, at some moments he transformed into the same scoundrel with the same facial expressions. But not next to my uncle, next to him he is like a rabbit in front of a boa constrictor.
DiCaprio's acting work is simply fascinating As he got used to the image of this stupid, rude lout, who is essentially a scumbag, but continues to make himself a good citizen, either out of perplexity, or simply because he firmly believes that he is not doing anything wrong.
I was familiar with the sad story of Native Americans before, but I'm glad that Scorsese was able to film this story, one of many, to perpetuate, let's say, on the big screen. I am unlikely to review this film sometime. Mostly because of its length, to be honest. But I do not regret at all that I watched and spent these 3.5 hours. It's a good movie.
I watched it purely because of the Oscar nomination. To find out what's so special about him.
The beginning and the trial were interesting. That's about it. I would shorten the timing by a little more than an hour for more dynamics. But what am I, the master is a gentleman.
Submissive Molly did a great job at the end. And Ernest and his uncle didn't get much.
