One of the biggest stories this week is Zendaya and Tom Holland’s secret wedding. The media has been circulating fake, AI-generated photos, the actress’s stylist has issued a statement, and her mother has laughed off the journalists’ claims. Whether it's true or not, we'll find out a little later, but for now, let's take a look at the movies Zendaya has starred in (in some of them even alongside her husband).

The words of Duke Leto Atreides from the title of the review seem to be a personal statement by director Denis Villeneuve, for whom "Dune" has always been and remains a dream project. These words are like a promise to you and me. The promise is that he has responded to the call of many Dune fans, as he himself is, and has embarked on this grandiose project. His vow says that he will treat the legacy of Frank Herbert with all passion and respect and will film this complex work exactly as ...

It is interesting to observe this universe, there is no rejection of any kind, when watching the film there was a feeling of tightness several times and I had to get bored.
Perhaps I expected more, however, on the whole, it turned out well. The visual is as always on top, but I would like more fullness of this very timing, semantic load, with which there have been obvious problems in modern film construction for more than five years, if we take something popular, namely tapes designed for a person with popcorn in search of spectacles.

Absolutely average, unremarkable movie. With the same problem as most film adaptations: without knowledge of the original source, it is very difficult to understand what is going on at all. The picture is beautiful, but I can't say anything about the plot. If we consider it as a separate film, without reference to the book, then I did not like it. Timothy Chalamet took out the whole movie on himself, but even it wasn't enough for him to make it to a good one.

I watched it in several rounds. I barely finished watching it.. considering that I love space fiction. Before that, I had not watched any TV series or films based on this work (in snatches).
The actors were recruited nothing like that, but the plot is banal, a showdown in the style of the Chinese provinces of the time of Emperor Zyu. Of course, there is a chosen boy in the middle, who bears all the responsibility for the life to come. Some kind of super duper witch clan, a ridiculous fat baron... And where without a lady of the heart in nightmares))) For a very long time, they escalated the attack on Paul's family. We finished, as they say, on the most interesting thing.
The advantages in the graphics are that the planet with sand and worms is pretty well made.

A very atmospheric film, visual and sound effects are super. But not enough. I want a director's version for + half an hour. It's good that the second part is not long left. I was drawn to read the original, previous film adaptations did not provoke such a desire.

About the 3D version. The film has very unobtrusive 3D. It is there, it works, but it is clear that no one specifically builds a scene for it and no additional manipulations with depth are performed. In any case, if possible, it is better to watch the stereo version of course. Some scenes become much more enjoyable.

I've been liking the Dune universe for a long time. from the strategy on the segment😁 "Dune: The Battle For Arrakis".
I bought and read all 24 books on it. and I'm damn glad it was Villeneuve who filmed it. imho is one of the few directors who has both visual and content on top.

"Here I stand" are the Duke's last words. "Standing here" is the motto of the Marmonts.
Harkov's chemical protection suits are purely Among Us. and they also look like Sardine suits from Lynch's dune.
The spider "pet" of the Harks is probably the work of the Tleilaxu and seems to be made of a woman. because the Tleilaxu despise women.

I read that the imperial planetologist is played by a woman of the type to increase the role of women in the film. and the fact that the Bene Gesserit rules the great houses from the shadows (orders the Baron himself!) It doesn't seem to matter?!

fanfact. The Harks pumped out 10 billion worth of spice. tanning salons annually, and they spent profits on transporting troops for 60 years (according to the book)😮

I like a lot of moments
"The Harkonnens have been ordered to leave the planet by the Emperor's decree." mega-epic. The power of the emperor is felt.
- bagpipes in the distant future - for me, not a Brit, it sounds unusual/ alien and at the same time traditional/familiar. as is the throat singing of the Sardinian shaman (although it is a tradition for my people).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obfWJSquF2U
- landing of sardines. slowly and quietly.
- the work of the beamer. An unstoppable laser cutting through everything in its path. with enough power, it will pierce the planet.
- The formal attire of Jessica and the maids is simply chic. form-fitting dresses with a train in the wind. (the fate of these maids is interesting and unenviable. either they died or even worse in slavery to the Harks)

@berion87: It is mentioned that Atreides soldiers are better than Hark soldiers. I've been thinking for a long time - who are the best warriors of the empire? Bene Gesserit sister's answer
: In a melee battle, an average Atreides soldier will defeat 3-5 average soldiers of another house. Sardaukar will defeat 3-5 Atreus soldiers. Freeman 3-5 sardines. And the Bene Gesserit sisters are definitely more skilled than the Fremen. One sister will probably defeat 3 Fremen, and this turns out to be 20-30 ordinary soldiers. There are also Ginaz sword masters, but these are rare elite warriors, one of them is Duncan, who killed 20 Sardis.

I don't like the agenda, but the Fremen are organically selected. these are essentially Arabs/Negroes.
in general, I like castes. imho Chalamet is better suited to the role of Paul than Kyle McLachlan or Alec Newman. young and skinny.
Now, when reading Dune, I imagine it is him. So is Gurney-Brolin. Duncan is Momoa. Stilgar - Bardem (Steven Berkoff from the series is also not bad). Mohiyam is a Rampling. Rabban Batista.
Lady Jessica is more difficult-Francesca Annis and Rebecca Ferguson are both good. and then there's Alice Krige from the series. and the Duke, with all due respect to bearded men🧔🏻 Oscar and Jurgen like William Hurt better. So is Ian McNeice. imho this is the best baron. according to the book, the baron is not only cruel and treacherous, but also talkative and theatrical like Nero (his last words, by the way, "What kind of artist dies").
The most difficult thing is Chani. Zendea is a great fit - dark-skinned and cute. But young Sean Young😁 is still about*uenna😘

I'm not a fan of science fiction at all and I'm not familiar with books, but I really liked it. The visual is just super, it's a little difficult to remember these houses, the leaders, who is there for whom and for what, but the interest is very strong, I wanted to get acquainted with everything in more detail. I thought I would turn it off in 15-20 minutes, and how surprised I was when almost 2.5 hours passed so unnoticed. I even regretted that I hadn't looked earlier. Timothy🔥 And in general, I was impressed by the viewing.
I have not read books, I have not watched other film adaptations, I can only appreciate this film by itself. And I liked him moderately. The confusing world presented to the audience is succinctly and clearly outlined (and this is also a talent), it is pleasant to look at beautiful landscapes, a good cast is pleased and the development of events is interesting. On the downside, these very events are sometimes lost in too-long empty scenes when nothing happens at all. The picture also suffers, there are shots in which we see only an incomprehensible brown-gray something. If it weren't for this visual and eventful emptiness, the film, in my opinion, if you add more dynamics, emotions, and colors to it, would become a bomb.

Probably the strongest scene for me is where Paul overcame this fear of pain with Jessica's help. Because our fears slow us down very often in life.

- I shouldn't be afraid. Fear kills the mind. Fear is a small death that threatens complete destruction.
I will meet my fear, give it a way over me and in me.
And when it's all gone... I'll be able to see his way.
Where the fear has passed, nothing will happen. Only I will stay

I really like the first hour that Lynch managed, that Villeneuve, to convey this approaching danger, tension, the power of the chosen one and the creepy scene with a hand in a box, I see strength in the dialogues, although recently Villeneuve admitted that he does not work for the sake of dialogues, but obviously, here he tried, very sincere conversations with the disclosure of many heroes in the shortest possible time, here you have Batista the villain next to the incredibly charismatic Skarsgard, and Oscar Isaac the father of Chalamet, and this is just the beginning of the enumeration of the mega caste, no worse than Oppenheimer. And the characters live in the script and seem to have escaped from the book.

The visual feast and scope are visible to the naked eye, from critics to casuals, there is a cabin gap, a chromakey and a technical paradise. Villeneuve fixed all Lynch's mistakes, including the work of special effects, and finished the first part of the trilogy on time, without letting down a smooth chess game in the firing squad for the events. It has its own charm and gloss, everything is measured out and floats into the labs of joyful fans of the original book. Once again, spice is the head of everything, and the emperor is stirring up trouble against two families. The war is coming, and there are many betrayals, predictions and intrigues. It's cool that Paul (the cool mega chosen one) doesn't have all the predictions right, which makes it doubly interesting that it will come true, I was even confused a couple of times here.

Preparing for the Sardaukar war is a real art, like a living painting, incredible in sound and suspense, no worse than the first appearance of Saruman's army in VK 2. Anyway, Zimmer's sound is a 100% Oscar and the best sound of the decade.

It turned out weakly, Villeneuve with his monotonous hum is already sitting in his liver, well, how long can I? The original source was not very carefully handled, although the book of stars from the sky was missing, but still... 2 and a half hours wasn't enough to show the characters properly, it was a disappointment. There were enough strong women in the book anyway, why make Lieta a black woman? Moreover, the role was severely reduced to him. All for the sake of action with a hum and a moo.

at the time of watching, I was almost completely familiar with books, a movie with a guy from Twin Peaks (then he also got carried away by all sorts of housewives and sex in the big city... Is it because of the dune with him? XD) I didn't watch it, I played sega too small to understand ENT and the essence of the game... in short, I looked like I was born not in the 90s, but in tiktok)))
The picture is beautiful, definitely.
There are no questions about the timing of the 2nd part, but here it seemed to me very sluggish and stuffy, as if I was watching a movie on Arrakis myself, I wanted to have more dynamics and drink something not cranberry. It seems that it was possible to fit everything important and interesting into one hour completely. And then some of the first few episodes of game of thrones, only in a fantasy setting instead of fantasy, Here they are John Chalamet Snow, and worms for dragons, dad was killed in front of his son, he was already waiting "winter is already close" from someone... YES, I understand that Martin could have been inspired by Dune rather than the other way around, but I consumed the content in that order, and this thought did not leave me...
If I had watched it separately with a one-year break, and not in a row with the 2nd part at once, most likely I would not have watched the 2nd part separately... but the 2nd movie is just great dynamically, it was no longer boring at all, I liked everything, even though I watched it in camrip, unlike the first part in 4k)
But after the 2nd part, I became interested in lore, read all sorts of different things... Is this going to be a new franchise in the spirit of a galaxy far, far away?! There's a cycle and a story that says right now, wait, we're just accelerating, in the 7th part we'll get to the Worm Emperor...

I am aware of my behavior, I am ready for the disadvantages from the fans (:

The movie is very beautiful. It is a pleasure to watch all the actions of the painting. It's a bit long, but I assume that all subsequent parts will be the same (the second part is the proof of this).
The actors' performance is good, not everyone is happy, but many did their best, the emotions on their faces were not frozen.
The narrative in the film is consistent, and I liked it. There are no time jumps, everything is shown in the present, periodically the future, but this does not confuse. A beautiful picture, neither add nor subtract.
