Description
Henry Brogan is an elite 51-year-old assassin who's ready to call it quits after completing his 72nd job. His plans get turned upside down when he becomes the target of a mysterious operative who can seemingly predict his every move. To his horror, Brogan soon learns that the man who's trying to kill him is a younger, faster, cloned version of himself.
The film was shot in 4k 3D 120fps. The usual movie is 24fps, there were 48 in the Hobbit, there are 120 here. This is a frame rate that is five times higher than usual and everything turns out to be very, very close - the cinemas are not ready, they do not fit on blu-ray, it is unclear what to watch at home. HDMI/DisplayPort may not be the same version and will not be pulled out. Home TVs/projectors cost an unreasonable amount of money. Oculus Quest 2 will be released only in two years and will not support 120fps at release yet.
At the time of the film's release, only 14 theaters in the United States were ready to show it in 120fps, but at the same time in 2k. The situation was about the same all over the world - only a few dozen cinemas could do this. Therefore, most of the cinemas on the release showed it at 60fps. [1]
All releases on blu-ray in 3D were 1080p24fps. This is ridiculous, of course, but on the whole it makes sense: 3D on blu-ray everything is in this format, it doesn't happen stupidly anymore. But the flat releases in 1080p and 4k were also all at 24fps. At least in the states. Why did I laugh for a very long time and loudly. The dudes knew perfectly well that this would happen and still chose to shoot like this, just for the sake of the game. Then it turned out that (only) in Germany, a flat blu-ray with 4k60fps was released, which is also me, but at least something.
What's happening now as a result: monitors can show at least a flat version of 4k60fps. A new generation of VR helmets has appeared in the face of Oculus Quest, which can 120fps in 3D. The resolution really falls short, but still. There is almost something to watch on and it is available. But the source code of the film in this quality cannot be obtained anywhere. Such is the sad story.
