Bettany Hughes travels across India painting a portrait of one of the most important figures in the history of world religion - The Buddha. Born into privilege and luxury, Prince Siddhārtha Gautama left home after seeing the suffering of others outside the palace. Traveling throughout India, Buddha challenged the caste system and experimented with various methods to achieving enlightenment.
