Description
Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.
But it's worth noting that there are a lot of funny jokes, and this is a plus
We didn't forget about Chadwick, which is also good
Of course, many people can say that this is not the same Marvel anymore, but, damn, the universe is expanding and it's obvious that there will be a lot of new characters and stories. The music is great, there were even a couple of jokes that didn't cause a cringe. Good completion of phase 4. 🙃
We really paid tribute to CHADWICK.
Of course, the film was not released, but let's hope that the sequel will be better.
What I didn't like very much was the causes of death of T'Challa. Of course, they were like Chadwick's - he hid the disease, but in the plot he is the ruler of the country, the last owner of the power of the flower, and somehow stupidly it turns out that he was hiding. It would be another matter if they said that some kind of rare incurable local disease that quickly mows down a person. And so I liked the film, especially since the Americans themselves show themselves as warmongers, which, although a strong weapon, is not averse to brazenly stealing from someone who protects it and does not give it to just anyone. That is, they are not 100% correct. By the way, the plot with a potential war reminded "What if ".
Well, I liked that the villain's motivation is clear and understandable, that you understand him humanly. However, since the time of the trailers, the term Kukulkan has sounded funny because of its slight consonance with the Ku Klux Klan.
Is it really unclear whether the Baroness was the head of the CIA from the very beginning or just now? And why did you order Clint for Elena?
Actually, Ryan Coogler, the director and screenwriter of the original, and the rest of the team responsible for Wakanda forever, are not to be envied. At the stage when Coogler sent the first completed version of the film script for approval, Chadwick Bozeman, the lead actor, dies of cancer. Moreover, Bozeman did not inform any of his colleagues about his illness. Neither Coogler nor the Marvel producers were aware. Everyone is in shock. Kugler practically recuses himself, but in the end remains at the helm, rewrites the script, bringing to the fore Shuri, the sister of T'Challa, and puts on her all his experiences and actions of this difficult stage: self-flagellation about the inability to help a loved one in time, self-doubt without the support of the departed, attempts to continue the journey, seemingly alone, but in fact with the support of loyal friends and acquaintances.
If I remember correctly, someone from Bozeman's relatives or acquaintances said, they say, the actor was not an egoist and would be two-handed for, take another actor in his place. I will assume that this is indeed the case. On the other hand, Bozeman, for some reason, kept silent about his illness, bringing the situation to such an extent that everyone involved had no other choice but to bury the screen hero, and not continue his evolutionary path by wearing a suit on another character. For Bozeman, it was supposed to be the last film under the contract - and I have a suspicion that the actor hoped to give his last strength to shoot in it and then give up the role.
On the other hand, I remember now almost a similar situation when, during the filming of the series "Spartacus", Andy Whitfield, the performer of the titular role, found out that he had cancer, which he immediately informed his colleagues. It was decided to take a break while Whitfield was undergoing treatment. In order not to pull Whitfield, but at the same time the film crew was not idle, a mini-season was filmed-the backstory. Unfortunately, Whitfield was not getting better, then the actor decided to give up the role and took part in the casting for his replacement in the subsequent "big" seasons. Whitfield personally blessed Liam McIntyre, who finished the remaining two seasons and at which the series was finished after Whitfield's death. Of course, McIntyre initially looked pale compared to Whitfield, but the audience accepted him pretty quickly (especially considering the circumstances described above), and McIntyre himself began to feel confident and added a lot of himself to the role, and did not just become a plug. By the final season, both Whitfield and McIntyre brought the same amount to Spartak.
Feel the difference, as they say. And personally, in my opinion: even under all circumstances, it was not necessary to refuse T'Challa. Taking into account the almost worthless plot of the sequel (Namor, by the way, was in all known versions of the script: what's with Bozeman, what's without him) in the sense that he affects about nothing in the near future of the Marvel cinematic universe (certainly there is no impact on the current fifth phase), the sequel could be moved forward several years without losing respect from fans. But, very likely, the universe has lost forever (by the standards of modern Hollywood) an interesting character. But no: "The Lion King" from Kevin Feige raised too much money! Urgently release a sequel! Five years after the first part, yeah. Seriously, no one would have been hurt - postpone the premiere of Wakanda forever. Plus, if you know the whole shit storm that is happening with the studio on almost all fronts at the moment, "Wakanda" would only benefit from a later premiere.
Well, we must remember that in our case we are talking about Marvel, where actors and actresses are constantly replaced in their projects for very different reasons (and, moreover, very harshly): Terrence Howard and Edward Norton will not let you lie. Or Emma Furmann, who played Cassie Lang in The Avengers: Finale, the grown-up daughter of Ant-Man, and after a couple of years she found out at the same time with other viewers around the world during the Disney-Marvel stream that her place took Catherine Newton in "Quantomania ".
In general, because of this decision, the entire first third of the almost three-hour film is the farewell of the actors/characters to Bozeman/T'Challa. Grief, sadness, tears - that's exactly what we love in fervent comics. By the way, during the film, one of the characters almost blames T'Challa for not telling anyone about his illness. I was like this while watching: "No fig to yourself you are presenting through a character to an actor who has died! ". At that time, however, I did not know that Bozeman was really hiding everything from everyone, but even with this knowledge, the scene does not cease to look disgusting. Then, apparently, at some point, the final version of the script catches up with the original concept, jokes appear, and the deceased T'Challa goes aside. Well, it's time for us to get away from the elephant in the room and move on to other components of the picture.
Simultaneously with the second "Black Panther " the Eternal " and the third "Ant-Man " were filmed. According to one of the people responsible for special effects, "the favorite child " for Marvel was precisely "the Panther " (I suspect this is due to widespread criticism of the poor computer graphics in the original - especially the final fight) - all resources were thrown, first of all the queue, for "Wakanda ", and among the others was distributed according to the residual principle. So, this is absolutely not visible. In every sense. Almost the entire film can be characterized by a tongue twister about four black, dirty little devils (no racism!). I understand that inflation and all that, but how much can you cover the schedule with the dark time of the day? Prologue - night, attack on the laboratory - night, car chase - night, fight on the bridge - night. In fact, only two action scenes take place during the day - thanks at least for the fact that one is more or less epic, and the other is the final battle. This concerns earthly adventures, but there are also underwater ones. And I made a joke about Atlantis for a reason. So, according to the comics, Namor is an inhabitant of Atlantis, but for the film the scene was moved to the shores of South America so that stupid viewers would not confuse Marvel's Atlantis with the dish Atlantis from Aquaman. The problem is that it was Aquaman who first came to mind when I saw the local dark, impenetrable, dull, murky depths. Sorry, "Aquaman" wins here in principle without a fight. And I haven't looked at it yet "Avatar: The Way of Water". It seems that Cameron is putting everyone on their shoulders there. Moreover, the local "non-Atlanteans" are blue-skinned. And one more extra association is not in favor of the Panther. And some of Namor's henchmen seem to be from the Pirates of the Caribbean. Of course, I understand that Disney bought all the studios in the area, but can we be a little more original?
The action does not amaze the imagination - the same daytime scene from the middle looks more or less, and the final battle - well, that. Frankly, it's a bad idea to lock the fighters on a narrow surface of the land in a battle with marine life.
There is nothing much to say about veterans. In five years, half of the actors have already been forgotten there. Who was played there in the original by Lupita Nyong'o (with whom, by the way, I watched a lot of movies), I remembered at the very end. Shuri, who is now for the Black Panther, in general, has ceased to be as infuriating as she was before. In general, I'm not against her "glavgeroinstvo " in the future, as long as she keeps a balance between humor and seriousness. A lot of humor harms her, in this part - it was just right. I won't talk about the girl power in Wakanda - everything is clear enough. Men are stupid gorillas. And Daniel Kaluuya skipped the sequel for the sake of the horror story "No ".
The scene after the credits is the only one and matches the atmosphere of saying goodbye to Bozeman. From this point of view - approx. From the point of view of the development of the universe, it is unlikely that this will ever come in handy.
To sum up, "Wakanda forever" is a victim of circumstances. I don't want to scold her as the first part, which was only a hype retelling of the Lion King in Marvel scenery, for some reason claiming to be an Oscar. But there's not much to praise either. Thanks for not shitting your pants? Well, ok. Thank you for the fact that the film does not fall apart, and three hours do not look like endless torment.
Rating: 5 adventures of Shuri and co out of 10
The only reason I don't want to see this movie is because then I can decide to watch it again. And for him, even once is too much.
