According to the oldest version of the myth, Prometheus stole fire from Hephaestus, took it from Olympus and gave it to people. For stealing fire, Zeus ordered Hephaestus to chain Prometheus to a rock in the Caucasus Mountains or in Scythia.
The chained Prometheus was doomed to incessant torment — again and again the eagle flew in and pecked out his liver, which grew back from him, the immortal.
But my thought is more obvious. Close and unsociable environment, alcohol and annoying dad (social history of Russian reality).
