At the moment, if I remember correctly, there are three versions of the film: theatrical, director's and final cut.

It's creepy every time Colonel Kurtz is shown to the viewer for the first time.

Coppola needn't have worried about Brando and his weight. In my opinion, it turned out to be shot in the only right way and show Colonel Kurtz as a monolith. He looms over Willard like a pagan idol. The effect is really amazing and creepy.
