Overview

At the height of the Vietnam war, Captain Benjamin Willard is sent on a dangerous mission that, officially, "does not exist, nor will it ever exist." His goal is to locate - and eliminate - a mysterious Green Beret Colonel named Walter Kurtz, who has been leading his personal army on illegal guerrilla missions into enemy territory.

Seven films whose production became a real challenge for the entire crew. Storms, injuries, toxic makeup, grueling take marathons, and conflicts on set — these projects pushed the filmmakers to the limit, but still made it to the screen.

One of the best films about the war.
The description does not specify the correct duration.
The duration of the film is 3 hours and 16 minutes.

@Slava_negative: this is the duration of the director's version, it's probably theatrical

At the moment, if I remember correctly, there are three versions of the film: theatrical, director's and final cut.

It's creepy every time Colonel Kurtz is shown to the viewer for the first time.

Coppola needn't have worried about Brando and his weight. In my opinion, it turned out to be shot in the only right way and show Colonel Kurtz as a monolith. He looms over Willard like a pagan idol. The effect is really amazing and creepy.

This is the end

My only friend, the end

A terrifyingly beautiful, dark, disturbing, insane and increasingly surreal anti-war epic by the minute. A journey into a hellish black hole, where the characters cross the moral horizon of events and, along with reason, lose themselves. I can't find the words to describe it in human language. You just have to watch it, experience it.

But what I can't help but mention is the influence of Marlon Brando's character. The figure of Colonel Kurtz in the film is monumental and exudes physically tangible power. This is the embodiment of the very phenomenon, the very nature of war in one person. A man that much... I don't know. So real that it captures your attention and that of Martin's character even at the beginning, without even appearing in the frame. It's like he's guiding the characters towards himself, controlling all the madness that's going on around him.

A unique movie. It's just unique.

I think this movie is as much a lump of cinema as the Brando character is shown. How eerily truthfully filmed about a senseless war.

@ZiZu1710: based on the book "The Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad. It's worth reading! It's very impressive!✌️

One of the most anti-war films in American cinema. The horror of what is happening around, driving those who have fallen into this hell crazy, pulling out all the darkest things from the corners of human souls
