Description

When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Chinese Army to defend the country from Huns, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. Mulan has always been my favorite princess. And I know that there are quite a lot of variants of the Hua Mulan story in the epic, but I don't like any of the "striving for traditionality" (should not be read as canonical) variations. In such stories, the heroine is like a bird, who performs a complex dance that is not familiar to her, and copes superbly... and then her wings are cut off.
They left a loophole here - an open end. But I'm not a fan of open finals xD

The film is based on the cartoon, but many details have been shortened/changed. And the movie turned out much worse! The cartoon was childish, but interesting and adult, funny, magical, with convex characters. It is unclear who the film is designed for, it looks like a draft script, only outlining the backbone of the plot. And visually: it seems bright, but in reality it is poor and squalid. I don't understand where the millions spent went and what the bonuses were given for. A minimum of extras, a minimum of scenery, almost zero special effects, obviously pavilion shots and painted landscapes.

Fighting class. The pictures are at a height. But where are the dialogues)? I've been watching almost all the time on 2x... and I'm very disappointed. There was not enough disclosure of the other heroes. In cartoons, they were given much more attention. I understand that the purpose of this adaptation was to show exactly what Mulan is, her capabilities and rights, independence, courage. But the cartoon did it perfectly by illuminating the rest of the characters. And the whole movie, which revolves only around the heroine, seemed a little empty.
Well, yes, it's sad without Mushu at all.
