Overview
A Victorian surgeon rescues a heavily disfigured man being mistreated by his "owner" as a side-show freak. Behind his monstrous façade, there is revealed a person of great intelligence and sensitivity. Based on the true story of Joseph Merrick (called John Merrick in the film), a severely deformed man in 19th century London.

The Elephant Man is Lynch's greatest drama based on real events. When I first saw the painting, I sobbed for hours. For me, the Elephant Man has forever remained one of the most difficult and thrilling films in my personal rating.
Today, my wife rejected all the suggested options and said that we would watch the Elephant Man Lynch, but who am I to dispute this.
It's amazing how David Lynch, a master of surreal nightmares and hopelessness, could calmly shoot such simple but warm stories. About how it is possible to see a bright soul and a rich inner world behind an unsightly appearance, while decent people behave worse than animals. One of the kindest films in history, for which it is not a shame to shed a tear. Pure gold!

I roared almost the whole movie. It's a good thing that the doctor found him at the time.
