A wonderful ensemble cast led by Benicio del Toro. Michael Cera is simply gorgeous, and his awkwardly charming role as an entomologist fits perfectly into Anderson's universe. The image of Cumberbatch with his mustache and eyebrows, the duo of Cranston and Hanks with their basketball game, Murray, Gainsbourg and Defoe (who appeared on the screen for just seconds), Johansson, Ahmed, Ayoade - all these are the icing on the cake.
There are all the same branded techniques here: shots calibrated to the millimeter, scenery similar to theatrical backdrops, and dialogues in which there is a lot of humor, and everything else that we love about him.
Wes Anderson still knows how to surprise. Definitely worth the attention.
a film that surprises and captures at first, but at one point turns so much in the other direction that you still don't immediately figure out how and what. But that's the genius of Wes. he can surprise, even going into self-repetition.
the moment was very deep and too arthouse to appeal to the average viewer.
The film is quite interesting, but it is absolutely no match for the Grand Budapest Hotel and The Kingdom of the Full Moon. However, he was not overloaded with information and plot bindings, he looked easy and pleasant) the characters were also interesting and peculiar, however, as always))
I love such phlegmatic characters as the nun played by Mia Tripleton (who is Kate Winslet's daughter), I also wanted fancy beads haha. Well, Cumberbatch in this makeup is really funny!
I'll review it sometime.
Mia Tripleton needs to be looked at closely, and Michael Cera found the perfect role for himself, from his arch I naturally caught such a wild roar under my pillow at night, pun intended in the form of a man.
I admire Wes Anderson's humor, it's so atypical, but for him it's already his trademark style of satire from the very first days, exposing the objects of ridicule not as fools, but on the contrary as smart villains with patterns of omnipotence and no need for human rights, which makes their whole lives the object of irony and comedy.
There are also very picturesque decorations, as if each chapter is a separate collage on a summer theme. Each story is in a short film style, with a lot of fanfare highlights, with a combination of conservatism and minimalism inside the wide rooms and colorful details around the house. A theater inside a cinema in meta-acting.
