In connection with the release of the animated film Predator: Killer of Killers, I decided to review the entire franchise — just a long weekend brought, it was a sin not to arrange a marathon through the Predator universe.

And so after the marathon I sit and think: How far cinema technology has come in 38 years. More action, juicier picture, more realistic special effects ... but at the same time, logic, atmosphere and original idea have gone somewhere. They were simply killed for the sake of entertainment.

The space safari of an elite alien race to shoot the dominant species on an alien planet has turned into some kind of hunting cult and a code of honor.

It turns out that these hunters do not kill for fun, but to find "great warriors" and measure their strength against them. The code of honor, yeah, that's it.

It is clear that the image of an "alien rich man" shooting people for the sake of a fan — like the earthly rich shooting lions in Africa — does not enter the public. And thanks to fanfiction and comics, a noble hunter appeared, fighting for honor and trials.

The cult of hunting, ancient rules, leveling up, and now we get Prey (2022) — where the Predator starts hunting from the minimum level, killing a snake (strangely, not from a mosquito or fly) and then the prey becomes more and more powerful and dangerous, culminating in a fragile teenage girl with a height of 1.6 meters, who is armed with advanced The big guy couldn't beat me with technology...

3 years later, an even faster Killer of Assassins (2025), where Vikings, ninjas, World War II and dogfight were mixed. Yes, yes, a fancy interstellar ship hunts antediluvian propeller planes, and also loses the battle to some clumsy tire fitter.

Predator (1987) and Predator 2 (1990) still look great. This is a classic that has stood the test of time. Predators (2010) — expanded ENT, showed the planet Yautzha. Predator (2018) — although it introduced GMO and genetic vinaigrette, but thanks to the actors it looks surprisingly cheerful.

But the Extraction and Killing of murderers is already an outright degradation, without an atmosphere, following the logic of the universe. But the audience liked the Loot, the creators got their hands free, and now we've already got the 2025 animated circus.

He also "went in", although he completely ignores the previous films. And now they promise us a new batch of shit. Well, since the fans are asking for "more", of course they will.

It's a pity that the franchise has turned into a fanservice fixated on a freaking 18th century musket. It's all for the fans, who, like the creators, don't care about logic, canon, or common sense. The main thing is more entertainment, more action. And logic— fuck you, logic.
