Overview
Nuclear war has rendered the world a wasteland. In a landscape where survival is not guaranteed and bullets are the only currency, Ronin seeks revenge for his father’s murder. A young girl requests his help to return to her birthplace, a dangerous journey that will require all his fighting skills to survive.

I've been waiting for him for a year, because I read Shishkin's TV channel (I recommend it to everyone) and I really like him.
I understood what I was doing and that I wasn't very interested in it myself and might just not like it, but I was pleased with the film: the shooting style was amazing, the colors and soundtracks were perfectly matched, the plot was not bad (although I hadn't watched many movies of this genre, so it might be a cliche for someone), Kolokolnikov and Vorobyov are very they look good.
but... how badly Diana Yenakayeva plays here (as in Crime and Punishment and, if I remember correctly, in Inside the Killer, it's no better either).
I have a twofold feeling about Diana Yenakayeva. The whole movie was jarring, the way she talks, maybe she was overdubbed, but it wasn't like her role. she looks great in the frame, but it would be worth considering an actress with more experience (for example, Alyona Mikhailova, when I saw her on the poster, I thought that this was her). Diana plays very blandly, expressing absolutely no depth in her character, just a memorized text. on the other hand, what kind of emotions should a girl convey in a post-apocalyptic world who has already seen everything in this life, again, it is possible that she has no emotions...in general, I didn't understand it a bit. And the final phrase, what happens if he comes back? - does he know what he knows? What will happen? but in general, I repeat that I liked the film, we will wait for other Max films.
As for the final phrase, I also didn't understand this moment, ahah, but it's very interesting.
Some kind of secondary scenario, more like a medley from Mad Max, Dune and Game of Thrones.
as for the actors (not all) I agree,
Not at all. This is just normal, quite samurai-like. Something like, like, about carrying a sword that you'll need once in a lifetime.
The last trump card. (tm)
That's another question. If our Samurai has access to such resources. That's why he hasn't already bought himself a collective farm with chinchillas!
More accurately. A collective farm is a communist farm, a state farm is a socialist one. And what is the name of the post-apocalyptic economy? )))
Oh, ho, ho. What did I see just now??? What signals did the author send to the universe?

I was so surprised!!!
I give 4.5 out of 5. Of the main disadvantages, only the play of individual actors seemed to be rattling on paper. Otherwise, there are only advantages👍
Yes, it looks stylish. The fights, the blood, the visuals are done pretty well.
the plot itself and the dialogues are lame, which are sometimes too overloaded with unnecessary information.
It's not a bad attempt to make some kind of fiction. at least it was really stylish.

...the author is talking to a bunch of voices in his head...
...you need to treat it like a debut...
...I would also call this a movie, maybe even an art house...
...in principle, no one was deceiving anyone...
...We've been licking the fights...
...we've already spent so much that we can't back down now...
...I still think that the failure of our film is both the script and the dialogues...
...It turned out what it should have turned out. Because it's copyrighted...
...there will even be a script doctor...it's just going to take a while...
...I'm building a visual score and fuck you...
...A man who is in the decadence of his position...
...this is also super logical from the point of view of such a therapeutic movie...
The plot is banal
The dialogues were written by a backward neural network, and were voiced by a Google translator.
The characters are cardboard, uninteresting, and empty
Camerawork for 3 and then all the moves are beaten
The music is not in the subject at all
A cliche on the cliche itself
The actors either overplay it or don't finish it, and looking at the bald Kolokolnikov, who cosplays Alexander Nevsky with his serious face all the way through the movie, is just a laugh on a stick.
A solid 2/5, and then only because I knew the director and believed that he could
And the film, as written above, is for connoisseurs of old-school vhs. There's a turbopack for you, and Mandy, and Mad Max, and Eli's book, and even suddenly a Black Mirror! And many many more things.
The soundtrack and the picture are my homage, new retro wave.
Yes, the script really lacked the background of both Ronin himself and the rest of the characters.
Major Grom was too few. The girl's terrible acting is too much. And it was once said that Bella from Twilight plays badly.
Yes, they also made the local king an unnecessarily stupid buffoon, Vorobyov overdid it for me. But who knows, maybe the director insisted to him behind the scenes: "We need more idiocy, Daniel, the king must be finished! Just a complete jerk!
And the director shouted at the girl, don't you dare blink! Don't try to show your emotions here! Read the text exactly according to the prompter!
Or maybe the girl is autistic? That would explain a lot ...
And yet, despite the many shortcomings of the film, I would like to say a big thank you to the author Max Shishkin for such an honest and courageous attempt in this genre. And wish you good luck in new projects and take into account all the shortcomings in the old ones.
+ Frame, action scenes, genre, soundtrack
- Acting, script, budget
I'd say it's an honest 3/5.
For the locations, plus, the idea is not new, but I like it. The performance is zero, the game of Yenakayeva is zero, only Kolokolnikov distinguished himself, and it's doubtful, but let's say Vorobyov, but in my opinion this is his usual role. It's kind of clumsy, the feeling was filmed on the principle of "and so it will do."
Fuck, it's a shame, I was expecting something like this, the trailer was good, but in fact it was just annoying. Yes, I'd rather look at an Inhabited island again than this... 2 out of 5, because the locations are beautiful.
And yes, for those who didn't get Furiosa there, sign up and enjoy. Have a nice
There's too much unnecessary chatter. Dialogues are generally some kind of mediocrity, almost everyone reads from a piece of paper.
As always, something is missing.. some kind of depth and drama.
Once again, the narrative is either too fast or not filled with enough action.
Secondly, it smells very much of secondhandness. You can find many works of art from which different elements were pulled. A six-stringed samurai, Eli's book takes a general outline. Fallout New Vegas, Mad Max, is visible in the desert. The division into ideological factions and the currency in the form of cartridges is reminiscent of Metro 2033. The dog robots came straight from the Metallist series of the Black Mirror. Oddly enough, the stylish cannon reminded Devil May Edge. The original idea can be traced only in the clans.
I will say that I like the first hour of the film, and even if it led to a banal revenge or forgiveness at the end, it would be much more interesting to watch these intense dialogues in French. There wasn't enough of a simple but awesome ending, as it was in last of the ace. Well, in fact, no one has gone through the normal character arc here.
On the plus side, I can praise the camerawork and the staging of the combat scenes, and the picture can sometimes be very atmospheric, such as in the cannibal tribe. Cinema deserves its 5-6. Not outright garbage, but it could have been better
. PS. Add another stylish motorcycle here and it would have turned out in the desert of death in the Russian manner
The person who wrote the dialogues has no sense of language at all: they don't speak Russian like that, the speech is similar to the work of Google Translate, which was fed the text in English. This disease usually affects people who have watched a lot of foreign videos with poor amateur translations (see Transverse and the like). And it would be fine if everything was limited to a short exchange of remarks, it could be attributed to a stylistic decision, but sometimes the characters don't shut up for five minutes. Show, don't tell is the basic principle of cinema, but the director, of course, knows better.
Vorobyov's character is a typical antagonist from Farkray, Troy Baker on minimals. It is customary to sympathetically call this acting style the theater kid. If he had three times less screen time, it could have been bearable.
The main character is without comment, beyond good and evil.
In order for the fantasy world not to look like a collection of references to your favorite movies and games, it must be TACTILE. The characters must constantly interact with him, touch, press, twist all sorts of handles and mechanisms. For most of the movie, the characters just walk through the desert. OK, well, then why go to Kazakhstan for the sake of filming, if you could shoot everything on the green? I am prescribing the films Prospect (2018) and Brazil (1985) by Terry Guillam intravenously to the director to develop this very cinematic tactility.
Staging fights in which opponents wait for the hero to get rid of the previous one - maybe that's enough? Fighting is not a filler. Daredevil, who comes out of every fight bruised and with his kidneys knocked off, proved 10 years ago that action scenes are not a reason for a stunt director to show off once again, but a test for the character.
Total: unjustifiably inflated timekeeping, dialog graphomania, references, style over substance and other sins of aspiring directors. I would like to say that there is a lot of talent hidden somewhere out there, but this is more of a movie game than a movie.
It seems that the plot may be intertwined with some movie somewhere (probably Highlander)
The film was made after someone had a brilliant idea: fighting in the post-fight! What do we have about post-orders? So, there are few weapons, all kinds of clans, anarchy, wild people... Everything is clear. Fights. Well, a little bit of shooting, all fucking with swords. Wow... Let's do it. What do you mean, which scenario? Fuck the movie script? And if there is no script, will it run for 10 minutes? Okay... What about the others? Yeah, yeah, yeah... clear. In short, the whole mysterious tough guy, at the sight of whom everyone immediately says: "wow, what a mysterious tough guy" leads a strange girl somewhere to a mysterious place, which everyone immediately says — ooo.... It's a mysterious place. That's it, we're shooting it fast.
And as a result: here are about 10 minutes of cool battle scenes with blood and fights. The rest of the time is dialogue. Dialogues... Oh, these dialogues... Apparently the apocalypse was some kind of theatrical. Because all the survivors don't speak like ordinary people. They speak pathetically, over the top, with complex dialogues and words like "in vain" and "I'm not afraid." There are about 40 more minutes of such dialogues. Especially at the end, when we have a one-actor theater and Vorobyov is talking.... and talking... And he says... And he's talking... and then he talks a little more... Then there was a fight. Then he talks some more... And a little more. As you have already understood, everyone here is very fond of talking. And it makes me very sad.
But it wasn't a bad idea. Trying to spice up this world with small details like couriers or robots is fun. The fights aren't bad. Weapon worship is also fun. But that's it.
