Why is it impossible to watch?
I'm planning to watch it since they nominated me for an Oscar, but then I thought, is it worth starting?
Although the story itself is important.
the narration is measured, the shooting is unusual - completely from the first person, working with sound is a delight for me personally.
cool! I thought about it and started browsing. Of course, I hadn't read the book, and I didn't really know what was waiting for me at the end.
the film is complicated. difficult in terms of presentation and also in terms of its main theme. I had to look at it in several approaches to relax and rethink it all.
The topics of racism, violence, discrimination in society and other important issues in modern realities are revealed. Yes, the topics are necessary and important! But I didn't really like the way it was done and served. it was difficult to master the film, even with interruptions. perhaps if you read the book first, it will be easier.
I repeat, because of the first-person shooting, you don't always know whose eyes you're looking at right now, and sometimes you get confused, but it works for the finale and the main twist. It may have been readable, but it still touches.
Watching "Boys from Nickel" will not be easy even for those who are used to a measured arthouse. The most interesting and truly valuable thing happens in the finale, and it turned out that emotions fleetingly come out of prolonged hibernation. The movie seems to offer to live through five stages of acceptance of the inevitable – with such a calm pace, it seems that maybe the characters will get along with the troubles, but only at the climax do you really feel and realize what the poor young men at the academy actually had to go through. This is facilitated by masterfully staged first-person scenes, and the addition of archival materials that pull us out of the artistic space into real life.
So it turns out that the movie is worth watching because of its strong climax, but to get to it, you must first live your entire childhood and youth for Elwood, whose legs, hands and eyes are in no hurry.: at first, Elwood lives the simplest life, and then runs away from a difficult fate.
The director played too much with the visual component and at some point all these visual solutions began to look excessive.
