In my opinion, a very thoughtful cinematic universe. On individualism and free competition, in such conditions, just everyone will die.
Citadel, Benzinsk, Patron Farm. A clear division of power. A fuse against a coup.
A multi-storey society. At the top, Countless Joe is a man and a god, and at the very bottom are those poor fellows with basins waiting for water to be given.
A complete post-apocalypse, where man is equal to an ant. There is not enough food, water, it seems, and not much air.
Soldiers patrolling around the Citadel, reeling in residual radiation, chemicals and harmful bacteria. This is in addition to the usual dangers of eternal war. Life is dangerous and short.
And in order to control the masses of people, in such conditions, only religion, only a religious order. Similar thoughts came to mind not only to the creators of this movie. For example, in the movie The Book of Eli. There the whole plot is based on the fact that the local chieftain was looking for the Bible. He needed to strengthen his power with religiosity. Right here, religion was invented on my knee. Something there, when I was a kid, I read about Vikings. And here are the motives. And off it went.
The device of this anthill was perfectly invented.
