Ad Vitam

Franck (Guillaume Canet), a former employee of the elite gendarmerie department, works as a construction worker after his dismissal and does not live very richly with his wife Leo (Stephanie Cayard). However, this is the second time that robbers have broken into their apartment, turning everything upside down and not taking anything! Leo doesn't know why to do this, but Frank obviously knows, but he doesn't want to upset his wife, who is nine months pregnant. Finally, the pseudo-robbers get bored and decide to take more severe action.

And immediately the film jumps to the background to tell us how these events began in the first place. I'm actually not a big fan of this kind of storytelling. This is when they give a seed in the form of a hero getting into a full ass, then they tell the whole movie how he came to this and at the end they rivet the denouement in 15-20 minutes. No, maybe there are films where this is a good solution, but this one is clearly not one of them.Most likely, director Rodolphe Logue did not have enough experience, because this is only his fourth film and he used to shoot comedies, not hard-core action films, so he did not immediately get into the principle. As it is, the combat scenes are quite good, the intrigue is interesting, but you don't get into it right away, and therefore many of the characters' actions seem short-sighted. The presence of Guillaume Canet as not only the main character, but also the screenwriter did not help. Or maybe I'm just nagging and someone will like the movie, because it has action, drive and intrigue, but I was mostly disappointed, despite the good chases and action scenes. Therefore, I will not recommend it, you decide for yourself.

The director tried, it didn't quite work out, but the combat scenes are well staged (almost without fantasy), the shootouts are also with a real vibe.
