The 26th Oscar Awards were the “scariest” in years: several horrors — "Sinners", "Weapons", and "Frankenstein" — took home awards. What else is new in this genre? Here’s a look at the “terrifying” new releases of the 2025–2026 season.

Having survived the diabolical hide-and-seek with the groom's relatives, Grace almost without a break gets into the second round of bloody games. This time, the powerful are hunting not only for the unfortunate bride, but also for her younger sister Faith, who accidentally fell into the crosshairs of the cultists.

My cinephile degree of insanity has noticeably decreased. It's been a long time since I've reviewed previous iterations of films in anticipation of the release of a new part...

I went to the long—awaited movie "I'm going to look for 2" yesterday - I expected the worst, but in the end I was pleasantly surprised, the concept is similar, but it still looks cool. It was scary, smart, and without cheap screamers, and the ending made me sit in silence until the end of the credits. I advise those who love horror with a soul, and not just a set of cliches. Well, as always, I personally admire the main character Grace - Samara Weaving is amazing and looks beautiful in this role. As a result, I can say that I liked the film, the ending is very unexpected and interesting, it is mandatory to watch if you have watched part 1.

It's a good movie. The second part didn't disappoint at all. Against the background of many cliched modern horror films, it looks fresh and not hackneyed. I would even watch the 3rd part if it was filmed, but it doesn't seem necessary anymore.

@alkriv: the movie turned out great, but we have to stop in time. The chances that the third part will be just as good and not cliched are rapidly decreasing, so I hope this is the end of Grace's story.
A cool slasher horror with elements of black comedy, ridiculing the global elite. It was dynamic, spectacular, driving, and looked good in one go. If in the first part it was about one influential family, now we can say that the project has scaled up and reached the planetary level. Mostly serial stars were invited to play the villains and they didn't disappoint, especially the sibling duo of Sean Hatosy and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The hard mess at the end kind of closes the story for the main character Grace, but if you want, you can shoot another sequel with or without Samara Weaving. The film's budget is only $ 14 million, so it should pay for itself in full at the global box office. There are all prerequisites for making a Scream-type franchise with multiple parts. I hope so, I really like this series against the background of a decent number of passing horror films.

Weaker than the first one, but still watchable and funny in places. And again, there's a lot to make out about gifs and memes.
The second part is much weaker than the first, but I still enjoyed watching it. Samara is an incredible beauty, she couldn't take her eyes off the whole movie. and the shots at the end with the black dress and glowing blue eyes are art. I liked the ending, the smile of the hero Elijah Wood and the next appearance of lebale.

The first movie was a good black comedy and, to me, a complete story, it didn't need a sequel. After watching, the opinion did not change, the sequel was not needed. At the same time, the pastime is still pleasant and you can enjoy the movie, but you can't expect anything more interesting and original than the first part here.

but it seems to me that at the level of the first part :) It was cool that now several families were fighting, and Grace had a sister who was just as lively
. The sisters' tandem was organic.

the idea of a wedding was cool, although it was predictable that Grace would not stay with this idiot
, but the spectacle of the murders was quite good!!

Wood's character is ambiguous, if they shoot the third part, then I hope they will return
him and tell more about him. It
seems that he is connected with the 'devil' more than we were shown
, but I was glad that Grace and Faith survived and killed everyone
, so either the devil wanted to kill everyone here, or in the following parts Elijah Wood can become the same partner of the girls (if he doesn't like this whole idea of worship), help them somehow, or maybe he himself is Le Bail
and will play the role of some kind of trickster to ingratiate himself, and then...
Grace will already become a bride for the third time, but the most A devil that must be defeated

If you're looking for something similar, watch the TV series "I have a very bad feeling", I'm sure it should come.

Slightly worse than the first part. You worry less about your sister.
Perhaps the sister's performance by Katherine Newton was at an average level, surrounded by quite iconic actors of the past. Samara Weaving herself played at a high level. She should try to play in something stronger in the plot plan.
The movie is for 1 viewing, but it has the right to exist. I didn't regret the 100 minutes I spent

Part 2 is also not bad, I recommend it!
It was a little boring to watch the sisters sort out their relationship, the story of "you left me" seemed a little strained and out of place.
Fewer jokes than in the first part.
Otherwise, I liked everything.
The only question was, if everyone blew up in the end, why didn't Grace explode too, she's already a member of their family.

All in all, it turned out to be a very good black comedy/slasher. yes, it may not have the same effect as the first part, but it's still a worthy sequel, especially since the plot is almost end-to-end and continues this whole orgy.

It was shot vividly, there are plenty of spectacular bloody scenes and dynamics, too, so the film definitely won't let you get bored. well, the story itself was revealed more, and by the way, the characters too.
Gellar and Wood fit in perfectly here. Well, it's always nice to look at Weaving's face.😌

Sarah Michelle Gellar is a horror icon, and her presence has been a real gift to the genre. It can be difficult for sequels to expand the cinematic universe while maintaining the emotional weight of the characters, but I think the directors did a great job.

Apart from Buffy, who is a bit of a horror, she didn't have anything "iconic". A mediocre actress who got caught up in the HYPE wave in the early noughties and then disappeared.

After watching it, I have only one question left: WHY?

The first part was a self-contained story with clear logic, a beautiful character arc, and an ideal ending point.

But no, the money was found, the screenwriter was urgently given to finish writing part 2. The result: a plot literally sucked out of a finger. The motivations of the characters are far-fetched, the conflict is far-fetched!

This is an absolutely passing film. You can watch it in the background, you can forget it after an hour, but the aftertaste remains unpleasant: Why spoil the impression of the finished story?

The script is weaker than the first film, and the whole thing with the world government in the service of Satan somehow...But otherwise, the sequel mostly holds the bar, the cast replenishment was especially pleasing, as was the finale). And I'm always glad to see Samara, too, of all the "twins" she's always good in weak films, even Margot had a couple of so-so roles (Yes, at least "Wuthering Heights").
A good and very bloody sequel. The disadvantage is that there is no novelty, the first part was fresher and funnier. But as an entertaining slasher for the evening, great, I enjoyed it.
In my opinion, the second part is no worse than the first. The film remains as intense and dynamic, while adding new unexpected twists.

The appearance of a sister at first seems like a controversial move, but in the end it does not interfere with the story and does not overshadow the main character.

Interestingly, it's as if, with Grace's help, Satan himself has implemented a plan to destroy his entire flock. It even seemed to me that at times I helped her as if haha
In short, I liked it

@Eva_Satanic: I think the point about "you can't give up" was that they would then be guaranteed to lose power, but being a "part" of the hunt and not actually hunting is not prohibited.
There was also a phrase that he had been training the twins since childhood, for him the status of head was more important than life itself and partly even the lives of children.

25 Apr 13:24 #
@MarinaMirellis: in that case, why did he forbid the Hindu himself to refuse? And he said that their patron would be very unhappy (I think this meant that they would be torn apart, like everyone else). If it had been possible to refuse to participate, the Indian would have done so, but the only way out was to transfer the leadership, and from there the question was why they did not show us what happened to her as soon as she left the "game".

Instead of participating, SHE LEAVES the HUNT, destroying the gate along the way" - you can continue to stand your ground, I don't care 🤣

This sister here is a total failure. Not a character, but a walking irritant. She is undisclosed, uninteresting, and constantly creates some kind of game for no reason. You look and don't understand if it's a person or just a tool to move a dumb plot forward.

And the worst part is their dialogues in dangerous moments. They're really trying to kill them, and they're starting to pick fights and sort things out. It's not tension, it's nonsense. In a normal movie, such scenes add emotion, but here, on the contrary, they completely knock out what is happening.

Drama is generally a problem. It's clear that the creators were trying to do something "deep": conflicts, emotions, conversations... but everything sounds empty. There is no normal acting, no feeling that you believe the characters. As a result, these scenes look like a parody of a drama.

And it turns out to be a strange mess:
the film seems to want to be a horror, a black comedy, and a drama, but it doesn't work well in any of these directions.

Bottom line:
the characters are annoying, the dialogues break the atmosphere, and the drama just doesn't work.
You look and you catch yourself thinking, no one cares if they survive or not.

In general, you can watch it, but unlike the first part, which I have probably reviewed 10 times, I will not review this part.
And I'll study some more. They're shooting at you with a sniper rifle, but you're stupidly running through a postcard when you have a green light on your side. A shot from a grenade launcher could have simply burned the heroine of Samara Weaving with powder gases when fired the other way around. And in the end, everyone rushes after the ring, as if there were not a pile of bones and horns, but thick mattresses laid out.

In general, I could complain about the fact that comrades Gillett and Bettinelli-Olpin were too lazy and turned back to hide-and-seek as the main test for both sides in the presence of a whole deck of cards with various "entertainment" activities, but they are through the mouth of Elijah Wood - oh, he looks great here in the role of a snide lawyer, watching for the fulfillment of all the subtleties of the contract with the devil! - you said a couple of abstruse phrases about the code, and you have to accept the rules, just like Grace and Faith.

Otherwise, the picture gives you what you expect from it and even a little more (have I ever seen David Cronenberg as an actor, hmm?). Of course, there are not many differences from the original, and if you look at both parts one after the other, it will be noticeable, but nevertheless. Now the drivers are divided into family contracts and compete with other clans for the title of king of the mountain (in fact, the bloody version of the "Heirs") and replace each other in view of funny, bloody and funny-bloody (i.e. hilarious in every sense) circumstances. There are no top movie stars among the actors, but very decent television celebrities have been recruited. Kevin Durand and Nestor Carbonell rocked back at The Lost, and Sarah Michelle Gellar is generally nice to see, especially when she uses Buffy's arsenal again. Plus, the latter has an interesting storyline with her brother (Sean Hatosy from Pitt Hospital and, by the way, the Faculty, where he was with Wood!), which mirrors the relationship of the main characters with the opposite sign. Black humor is well balanced with tense moments. Well, and - I won't dissemble - the film managed a couple of times, if not to dumbfound by radically changing the formula, then to pleasantly surprise by slightly supplementing it. This applies to the behavior of some of the waters, and to the last act of the painting. Even with Satan, contracts can be quite ambiguous, yes.

I got my share of pleasure from watching it. Everything is fervent, funny, and bloody. To see where the plot turns, it's obvious that the epic conclusion of the trilogy! - it's also interesting. Well, it's satire again. A prologue with news reports about a large-scale military conflict and a subsequent call with a short phrase in the style of: "Stop the bullshit!" made me laugh a lot. You can safely watch if you like this kind of movies - here Gillette and Bettinelli-Olpin do not cheat on themselves, though they do not jump over their heads. We are waiting for innovations in the triquel, but in the meantime, sorry for the banality - a strong film for one time. Well, Elijah Wood is great.

RATING: 4.5 black widows out of 5
Well, that's fun. It starts right from the same place where the first one ended. As it was logical, the heroine is detained by the police, they start digging... but alas, this story is not going anywhere. What's going on with the police and the investigation is also not very clear. Like what, the rulers of the world took her and just smeared her? Or what... But on the other hand, there's a movie where two girls blinded by pepper spray fight each other with musical instruments, and people just explode... Really? Asking questions about this kind of story? In short, it's just fun and exciting. Especially the ongoing prank with blood splatters...

It's a crazy, mind-blowing sequel. Getting used to weak sequels, I wasn't hoping for a good movie, although I love the first part. BUT IT'S JUST A MASTERPIECE! I KISS THE HANDS OF THE ENTIRE FILM CREW AND CAST!
A magnificent, worthy sequel

@adeline666: I wanted to add that I feel fucking sorry for Grace and Faith, especially Grace got hurt the most. I suffered so much in a few days after the "marriage"
