It's not scary at all, and even funny at times. Like a girl is lying and a babadook is like this

I liked the pictures from the book. And Sam, and specifically his actor coped with the role of an annoying child perfectly. I just wanted to rewind his screams, good job. About the scary part...No, not touched

The babadook is the personification of the neurasthenia of the main character. In the end, she metaphorically locks her monster in the basement, but how long will she be able to hide it there?
The film is absolutely not scary, and at times even a little unpleasant. No character is sympathetic, and Noah Wiseman's acting is just terrible.

A very weak cheap horror movie. I wasn't scared for a second. A complete sense of wasted time.

It would have been a great movie if it turned out at the end that there was no monster. The technique of an unreliable narrator, where mother and son would turn out to be mentally unstable personalities that imagined a monster for themselves. But alas.

What makes this movie different from the others is that it's much more than a movie about scary monsters. Even when the tension reaches its peak, the film penetrates deeper into the characters, exposing their weaknesses and strengths. This old-fashioned horror movie uses in-camera effects that heighten tension. Something is rattling and knocking on the house, which is Gothic decorated in gray and black tones, which makes what is happening even more frightening.

You have a new friend.
His name is Babadook.
As soon as you get into bed,
He's coming to play with you.
He waits for the darkness of the night.
Guess where he lives?
The moon will look in the window,
The house will be filled with silence.
What is that strange knocking in the closet?
Who's knocking?
The Babadook.
Shut up!
Freeze like a mouse!
Otherwise, you're screwed.
If you just tell me suddenly,
The word "Babadook" is loud
. Long-armed and big-eyed.
Skinny, long and toothy.
In a black hat and raincoat,
It will crawl through any crack.
He needs your fright.
The mask is worn by a Babadook.
And as soon as she takes it off,
Your blood will freeze in your veins.
The darkness will encircle you.
Don't look at his face!
If you can't stand it…
Self…
If you want to…
Die…

I liked the style of the film, its unhurried pace of narration and acting, at least the play of the main character. Of the cons, the character of Weissman, yes, I understand that he is still young at the time of filming, but in the role of an annoying child, he was annoyed only by his game. Otherwise, the film is good, not particularly scary, but intense and atmospheric

There were funny moments when the child (r crossed out) screamed like a fool and created all sorts of game, or when the mother finally went off the rails, but on the whole it was very weak and disappointing. The Babadook is absolutely not scary and frankly ridiculous, the computer graphics are dechmanian, and the denouement is completely draining: instead of psychological horror and digging into the brain of the heroine who went, it turns out that the monster kind of turned out to be a real monster, but what it is, where it came from and how they eventually tamed it is not explained in any way. And all these comments from famous people, the press and all sorts of opinion leaders that the film is very scary and generally a masterpiece, which were shoved onto posters and trailers, cause outright irritation: I don't know if the filmmakers paid them for the rave reviews or just asked them in a brotherly way, but they definitely take their audience for cretins.
