P.S. Well, the ending sucks. Sipping a beer, looking at how happy other people are, and you're left with your load of problems.
The plot is more about questions with holes: for example, why did these two traitors (an Asian man and a man in an armored car) initially kill Jackie at the beginning of the film? And how did they know about the jackpot if Daisy (the girl from the house) only told Jackie about it?
If they somehow found out about the jackpot, then why didn't they steal it right away, without complicating the general collection (earlier, Jackie would do something about it). If they knew that there was a jackpot, but didn't know where it was, then killing Jackie is even dumber, because they could get his place out of her. In general, either the explanation of this moment escaped me, or it's some kind of fakap.
Damn, I started watching the movie because of the cast, I thought they'd show fights with Adkins, the brutal Affleck. The film was disappointing
Honestly, I watched it because of Affleck and Damon, I just like their bromance.
The movie is pretty average, I wasn't hooked, but it's good to watch it once.
We ran through empty houses/streets in the dark the whole movie, got hit by blanks and found a rat cop. The entire budget was merged into a bunch of cover faces.
I would say that this creation is quite possible to miss the eyes 😬
Everyone has different opinions! If you liked it, it doesn't mean that others like it too!
the film begins very sensibly and cheerfully. a kind of black jokes, dynamics and all the inherent genre of bullying with chases.
but still, at some point, the film sags and tries to be more somber or something..
It's just another action movie, dozens of them. there is nothing new here and everything works according to a well-established pattern.
just another story about corrupt cops. It's cliched, but I'm not sorry for the time spent.
perhaps the cast also played a role in many ways, but already as it is.
And who can tell me what kind of black ribbons they had on their badges and why? As a sign of mourning for the murdered captain?
It's just a pity that Chris from S.W.A.T. was discharged quickly, I haven't seen her anywhere for a long time.
In general, it looks like a 4-star, a good one.
P.S. The dog is alive
but it's very boring, let's say the same havoc with Tom Hardy was recently on Netflix, then he's much more cheerful)
I really liked it.
But somewhere in the middle of the film, the plot began to turn around, and very cheerfully.
I liked. It's a cool action movie with a plot that's not typical for me. The ending was slightly blurred, but as for me, everything is quite logical)
In general, my husband and I are very lucky.
I did not expect delight from the film, but it came when the traitors were split in the "armored car" 🙊
And it seems that they put something in their pockets or not, why did Damon name the amounts to his two female colleagues and tell them to remember?
And at the very end, on the beach, a woman calls the girls "Jackie, where are you, baby"? Why did Ben and Damon look at each other like that? 🤔
Most likely, the procedure is to understand that no one stole anything.
the son's name was Jake, another reminder of him + at the end they wrote "Dedicated to Jake William Kasiano"
Ah min, irony.
We've assembled a normal cast-Ben &Matt, Glenn from "The Walkers," the immortal Richard from "Lost," Hector Salazar from "Sons of Anarchy," the new Supergirl, and a bunch of other interesting people.
And yes, it seemed to me that the cartel eliminated all cops, no matter if it was one or a whole platoon. And here it's expensive! 0_o
A.W.T.G.G.?
W.A.A.W.B.!
, I didn't know Stephen was filming here - a pleasant surprise
The captain of a police drug squad has been killed in Miami. Soon, her deputy and new squad leader, Lieutenant Dumars (Matt Damon), receives an anonymous tip. The team, which already has a growing distrust of everyone, goes to the address to withdraw the drug cartel's money.
Are we good people? Yes, and we always will be.
The beginning of a "Tasty morsel" (in police slang, "rip" is a confiscation seized from criminals), in which corrupt cops, honest (or not?) detectives, annoying feds, a tough anti-drug squad and a frostbitten Colombian cartel promise a hot final showdown with everyone. Moreover, director Joe Carnahan has experience in this kind of films. Take a look at his wild "Trump Aces". Seriously, take a look. And here the director took as a basis the personal experience of police Captain Chris Kasiano. Yes, we know what filmmakers usually get from "based on a true story," but it still adds extra weight to everything that happens. And Carnahan can play drama when he needs to.
And then there's the detective intrigue: who's on the "rat" team? And does it exist at all? Here we must pay tribute to Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. They do everything possible and impossible for them to convey the spirit of distrust between two old friends and colleagues who suddenly found out that one of them might be a traitor. It's a pity that Damon and Affleck don't often star in movies together, given their friendship. And the remaining members of the squad, among whom Glenn from "The Walking Dead" and DiCaprio's wife from "Battle after Battle" are seen, contribute to the confusion. In general, the tension builds up over the course of the film, like in a real thriller or even a horror movie. You know, such a "Something", but without monsters from outer space biting off your hands.
"You have a Colombian flag over your fireplace, and we're cops." It's not too hard to guess who the money belongs to.
- Not all Colombians are the same.
"But they have great coke." Actually, all the coke is in the USA...
and they also have great food.
"But they don't hide her in the walls.
And in general, everything is going pretty well, right up to the last third of the film. It turns out that there is no normal action and there won't be any more. Well, the last scene was slightly reminiscent of the chase from the fourth Uncharted. But that's not the main point. I was ready to perceive the "Tidbit" as a high-quality crime detective a la 36 Orfevre Embankment without piling up useless shootings from empty to empty. Really: Dozens of clips are fired into the void here. Without even seeing where and why they were shooting.
The biggest problem is that here are literally your most dismal guesses about the basic questions (who is the rat? Who killed the captain? Who sent the tip?) they will most likely be correct. Okay, the last question is optional. You really don't have to look at it carefully at all. But from a really cool start and not a small number of famous actors, choose the most obvious option? I don't know, maybe I watched too many episodes of the TV series "Shield", where the local task force even robbed the Armenian money train, and the local schematics look too simple, but I had more interesting solutions in my head.
"Tidbit" could have turned out to be a really cool movie (even if not a pure-blooded action movie), but the weak ending leaves a bad aftertaste in the style of "in the end we got into a class B movie."
P.S. Why was Scott Adkins called here, who can throw people around by the ton? Is it just because of his resemblance to Affleck, or because Adkins starred in Carnahan's "Trigger Day"? They would have invited Casey Affleck. So it would be more logical, since the role does not involve physical effort.
P.P.S. Did Carnahan just watch "Reach for Heaven"?
RATING: 3.5 Vika Maki out of 5
According to the plot, this is a classic crime thriller about two cop partners who find a mountain of money and make not the smartest decision. Director Joe Carnahan, known for "Aces of Trumps," was clearly trying to catch up with dark, dirty realism in the spirit of the 90s. The chemistry between the main actors is perhaps what makes this movie worth including at all. Affleck and Damon are embedded in the frame, their dialogues and dynamics feel absolutely natural, even when the script begins to sag.
But outside of acting, the film has nothing much to brag about. The story seems secondary: if you've watched "Training Day," "City of Thieves," or "Triple Frontier," then most of the plot moves will seem painfully familiar to you. There is no emotional strain or philosophical depth that usually distinguish the projects of this couple. The action is delivered cheerfully, but without frills - everything is very standard for modern streaming.
As a result, this is a typical one-time movie. Fans of the duo will definitely enjoy their interaction, but the film is unlikely to fall into the golden fund of the genre. Watching, relaxing and forgetting after a couple of days is the ideal scenario for such a viewing.
But it was immediately clear that the man from the DEA was a nit, as soon as he appeared, it was clear, and the fact that Glenn was also in business somewhere in the middle became clear!
