And oh, the girls, but they still won't understand anything.😅
It seems to me a big screenplay omission that the hero did not initially try to play on the story. At the beginning, he bluntly told her that women could now get jobs for free, and theoretically, he should have started with this, and not with trying to break through with his work skills. But then it would be possible to move on to attempts to fit into society and imposed stereotypes - it would be more interesting to reveal and come up with some absurdities that would change him more externally and so on, and not just the universal "you need to look sportier."
In general, it is difficult to turn objectification against someone who has not been traumatized by sexualization as they grow up, against someone who does not perceive sex as a possible source of threat/pressure, but purely as entertainment. Therefore, even the objectification depicted for him is not so much a shocking moment of revelation/ understanding, as just a half-weird-kink, half-kink situation where you can just say that it's not mine, but generally not to worry.
And it's also a little sad that men won't understand anything anyway and will only be glad that in that world women jump on them themselves.
But of course, the absurdity of some points was well highlighted, so overall I liked it)
Critics generally blasted the film, giving very low ratings. Because it's not enough to just swap men and women's roles. In many cases, simple mirroring stupidly does not work. For example, when a man is offered sex for the sake of promotion, it is not the same as when it is offered to a woman. Therefore, the hero in this situation does not experience any discomfort at all. If you decide to make the world the other way around, then the scenario should be deeper. Special and unique situations are needed. But the script here is too lazy.
It's clear that the character changes over the course of the film. But here he is changing not because he felt how hard it is for women, but because he liked the girl and he was able to see qualities in her that he would not have noticed in the real world. It's also strange that the hero didn't have to change to return to his world. The main condition was to become the director of the company, which he is trying to achieve throughout the film. So whether he has changed or just fallen in love is also a question.
Nevertheless, if you don't analyze and compare the script with reality, the film turned out to be pretty cool. Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike play great, the jokes are funny, the situations are funny, and everything looks interesting. That's why I liked it. I can recommend it. The main thing is not to take the film too seriously.
Of course, this is by no means matriarchy, but patriarchy on the contrary, but still patriarchy. The creators probably didn't make this mistake out of malice when they copied the French original, but they reinforce the common misconception about feminism and matriarchy that the women's movement is fighting for the right to oppress men.
Overall, it's a great comedy, as long as not only women but also men don't take these fantasies seriously. Nowadays, it takes so little to insult women on the Internet.
I personally rate this film at 12 out of 10. The humor here is just turned to the maximum
in general, it was unusual, slightly vulgar, but still wittily funny.
Rosamund Pike is gorgeous as usual)
I was disappointed that sometimes the behavior of men in the film was too exaggerated, for example, when they discussed advertising with models, which may lead to thoughts like "well, men don't discuss breasts, models, and so on so stupidly." I agree with this, because most often it is expressed not at all in such "clownish" behavior, but on a more serious level. But I make allowances for the fact that this is still satire, an example of satire that perfectly highlights problem areas in society and mirrors some situations that are sometimes simply absurd in a changed world. You catch yourself thinking that what is happening in the changed world is kind of surreal, and then you realize that in reality such an attitude towards women is considered the norm.
A solid 10/10 to the film, I will advise everyone to watch it.
Pike and Cohen just turned out to be a great duo. It looks in one go, I highly recommend it for viewing.
