A wonderful movie. Must-see.
One of those that I want to review)
Based on a true story. The same story was later inspired by the TV series White Collar.

I recommend the film to people who have not read the book on which this picture was shot. Because after reading the film , it looks pretty meager .

The first time I looked back in the noughties, when I didn't know about the Flash/Arrowverse and that's it :), and I completely forgot about comics. Now, just a couple of days after I finished watching The Flash, I just screamed when Frank introduced himself as Barry Allen :)

The movie is gorgeous, it used to reach him somehow. Even my husband got distracted from all his business and started watching a movie. Leo and Tom Hanks are gorgeous. And the fact that the film is based on real events makes everything that happens on the screen even more impressive.

but the film was not impressed. Yes, DiCaprio is handsome, his half-naked shots are just a bomb, but! What a nasty voice acting he has! The whole movie started with this.

And I didn't understand at all "his love with that girl from the hospital. It looks kind of unnatural, to be honest.

At the time, the film passed me by. Suddenly, there was nothing to do in the evening, and I was advised to watch this movie. I liked it unusually, I can't even decide what exactly. The camera angles, actors, their clothes, surroundings, music, light and color correction are pleasing. The epoch has been successfully transmitted. Some kind of charming atmosphere. DiCaprio's character evokes sympathy, despite his antics. I liked the scene with the first phone conversation on Christmas Day, the loneliness of the main characters is very felt.

This film is on a par with The Wolf of Wall Street and Gentle May: they are all adaptations of stories fictionalized by sociopathic scammers. Despite the fact that the credits say that the film is based on real events, and friendship continues between the characters, it is worth getting acquainted with the non-fictional biography of the author, and it becomes clear that the whole story is a lie, right down to the words "according to real events". It is more correct to say - according to the real nonsense of the author. It is worth paying tribute, the acting is great, the production is beautiful, and the story itself is full of the fabulousness inherent in the Christmas holidays - if anything, this film can be considered festive along with "One at Home" or "Grinch". The scammer plays tag with an FBI agent and only meets or calls him on Christmas Day. Unfortunately, I do not know what to put on such stories that blatantly lie that they are true…Everything seems to be fine, and the film evokes good feelings, but in fact everything is disgusting, and the author (of the original source) is fooling the audience by creating impressions in his address.

P.S. When those who began investigating the life and work of the real Frank Abigail began to disclose to the public that the author of the original source was a liar, the universities where he lectured about how good he was stopped cooperating with Abignail, and one asked to sign a paper in which Abignail had to give his word that he would not lie about himself. He categorically refused, considering it an insult. At the beginning of the lecture, it was reported that you should not believe further information.

The film would have been better without the credits about the reality of what is happening. It's just like a Christmas story, it's very good.

Poor Frank, for all his genius as a fraudster, he's just a kid who's sure that if you return the family to the state it was before losing the money, then all the other problems will be solved too and everything will be as before. I'm glad that everything turned out well in his life.

As much as DiCaprio's character, who so convincingly plays a charming but vulnerable and touching teenager, evokes sympathy and sympathy, the real Frank Abagnale, a narcissistic fraudster and the most ordinary information gypsy, is just as disgusting.
But the film as a separate work, a thing in itself, is very good.
