The Uprising (2026)

The unbiased opinion of a teenager who tried not to watch trailers in advance and did not know what story this film was based on. I went to the movies more for the sake of Andrew Garfield and because there's nothing else to watch in my city right now.

The plot is this: after the plague and the loss of half the population, the Council decides to raise taxes. People are rebelling - they want to get fair solutions from King Richard II himself, not from his henchmen. Our hero, the Plowman, becomes one of the first to be dissatisfied with this state of affairs and raises an uprising.
People are gathering - a lot of people. The moment when this kind of "carnival" began in London and the crowd came from all sides, somehow reminded me of the first parts of the game Assassin's Creed, rather according to the setting of the city.
From the very beginning of the film right up to the betrayal of the king (when he, himself or at the behest of the mayor of London, turned away from people who believed him after a personal meeting) I was just sitting there waiting for something interesting. And this interesting thing has begun: betrayal and subsequent revenge. But even that didn't save the movie much.
I think if they had replaced Garfield with another, lesser-known actor, this picture would have gone particularly unnoticed.
I was not familiar with the director's previous paintings.

P.S. The beheading scenes and the way the heads in the frame were shown separately from the bodies were certainly entertaining.

It's a pity for the time spent, as well as 400 rubles.
There are so many questions, but the most important of them is who taught the plowman to read? 13-some year.

I like the setting of such films. the whole gloomy hopeless atmosphere. dirt, greyness, all kinds of political intrigues, betrayals and chaos..

There are questions about historical accuracy, of course, but the film was shot pretty well. at least in terms of the same scenery and cool visual.
Of course, the plot sags in some places during prolonged moments, and in some places it gets too messy, but the acting somehow brightens it up and the film is well worth watching.
