Tommy Shelby is coming back
Netflix has announced the start of filming on "Peaky Blinders" and shared the first footage of Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby.
The full-length film is set to be the latest chapter in the long journey of the Shelby family, one of Birmingham's premier crime gangs after World War I. Showrunner Steven Knight wrote the script and served as a producer on the project. The upcoming movie will be directed by Tom Harper, who previously directed several episodes of the series. Though the main cast is being kept secret, news broke last month that Barry Keoghan ("Saltburn") will star in the feature-length "Peaky Blinders".
"Peaky Blinders" premiered in 2013 on BBC Two, with Netflix later acquiring the rights to release the show in the US. The sixth and final season aired in 2022, and in June of that year it was revealed that a feature-length movie was in development.
