Barry Keoghan to play Ringo Starr in Sam Mendes' The Beatles movies
The Beatles' Ringo Starr has confirmed that Barry Keoghan ("Saltburn") is being considered for a role in an upcoming series of The Beatles movies that Sam Mendes ("American Beauty") will direct for Sony.
When Entertainment Tonight asked the drummer about the actor, he said: "Well, I think it's great. I think he's somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many".
Information about plans to create four movies about each member of the British band The Beatles surfaced back in February of this year. Mendes' vision is for the Beatles series to consist of four separate but interconnected films. He will direct all four films, although it is still unclear who will write the scripts for each and in what order they will be shot. This is the first time Apple Corps Ltd. and The Beatles — McCartney, Starr, and the families of Lennon and Harrison — have granted full rights to their life story and music for a movie.
Although it has yet to be confirmed, some believe Paul Mescal ("Normal People") is up for the role of Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson ("Maleficent: Mistress of Evil") will play John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn ("Joseph Quinn") will play George Harrison.
