After returning from war, Norman knight Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon) learns that his friend Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver) has raped his wife Marguerite (Jodie Comer). Wanting to defend the family honor and get revenge on the rapist, de Carrouges appeals directly to French King Charles VI (Alex Lawther), who decides that a fair sword fight will resolve the conflict. If her husband loses, Marguerite will be burned at the stake for false accusations.

The plot of the picture is based on the real story of the last legal duel, which took place in France in the XIV century.

"The movie is strong. Very much liked the acting of the young, budding star Jodie Comer, well, and of course, the men sharing the frame with her are talented. Yes, Ridley Scott was scolded that the outfit is not so, helmets such did not wear, but it did not even catch the eye", — alexs_ann_drovna.

"Great director, great story, great sets, great filming", — ZRaoulDuke.

Everyone is praising the runner, but I did not go to either the first or the second film, although I like this topic.

Ridley Scott can be called a living classic. And my grandfather is still not discouraged, he's shooting and producing something there.
His creative career of almost sixty years is amazing.
For some reason (although I'm not surprised anymore) such cult films are not mentioned
The Kingdom of heaven https://myshows.me/movie/1513/
Robin Hood
https://myshows.me/movie/1210/
Prometheus
https://myshows.me/movie/665/
Exodus Kings and Gods
https://myshows.me/movie/862/
The Martian
https://myshows.me/movie/1035/
And how many TV shows he has produced. At least
Raised by wolves

He was the producer of Terror, Taboo.
In general, a very active man.

Black Hawk also liked Gladiator from the list, a little less than Thelma and Louise.

That's who modern filmmakers should learn from, how to tell stories of strong women (and at the same time without a story"): " Thelma and Louise", "Alien", "Soldier Jane", TV series "The Good Wife" etc. And his films about space and the future are absolutely unforgettable (I really like both films "Blade Runner" and, of course, "Alien"). And there are many more things that can only be reviewed now (such a movie is no longer being filmed - " sighs like an old man"). Thanks for the selection!

A strange sketch. To give an example of old films that were released in other times, and the "agenda", as you call it, could not be, because each time has its own films.
You would have remembered the times of Stalin's "agenda" and intertwined your arguments there about how and to whom to shoot what.

@webchillout: Nevertheless, old films like Alien and Thelma Louise are enthusiastically reviewed by people 30 and 40 years later. Who will review modern cinema saturated with an agenda in 10 years?

It will not be reviewed, obviously not because of your "agendas". No one cares, except for canned food, but even they don't care after a while

@Evittta: a "Alien: The Covenant" or "Napoleon" will be reviewed? And the sequel to Gladiator does not shine. These are his films.

@afrikata: If they learn from him now, it will be of very little use. Of the recent works, only the Last Duel is more or less good. Now he's shooting even worse than some of the modern movie houses you mentioned.

Hannibal? A Martian? The kingdom of heaven? Yes, even Napoleon or there's an Adviser with the Outcome - everything is better than the Last duel

More good "Duelists" (The Duellists, 1977) and "Black Rain " (Black Rain, 1989).

He is one of the few directors who has shot and is making historical films, for which he is honored and respected.
