"Another very, very good crime drama from the Safdie brothers. It's nice to know that Sandler can still deliver a great performance with serious material. In spirit, "Uncut Diamonds" reminded of the trilogy "Pusher" by Nicolas Winding Refn, only instead of a drug dealer trying to survive (and make the most out of a difficult situation) the owner of a jewelry salon, who makes ends meet, sets up schemes and deals with debts, sometimes cleverly (sometimes not so cleverly) creates schemes for selling rare opal. If you've seen "Good Time," the Safdie brothers' previous work, you're in for a similar journey on the other side of the law, but now without the art-house feel, albeit with a lingering atmosphere. If you haven't seen it, catch up (you'll see Pattinson from a completely different perspective), and then get to this thriller - the numerous awards are well deserved.
