The blockbuster anime "Gatiakuta" will be released on Crunchyroll in July
The hit manga "Gachiakuta" will make its way to screens this summer. The adaptation will be released exclusively on streaming service Crunchyroll in July.
Viewers can already appreciate how the graffiti style from the original manga has been brought to animation by acclaimed studio Bones Film: a fresh trailer is available above. Urana Kei invited Hideyoshi Ando, a street artist, to help design the manga and recreate all the graffiti that appears in its pages.
The manga "Gachiakuta" has been published in Weekly Shลnen Magazine since 2022. The story is about Rudo, a member of the lower class in a world where waste and criminals are sent to the same place, a giant landfill called the Pit. When Rudo is falsely accused of murder, he ends up there too. However, as befits a classic shลnen protagonist, he doesn't give up and joins a group of people who fight the garbage monsters of the Pit using unique weapons — "vital instruments" created from ordinary objects endowed with special meanings. Its purpose? To get revenge on the society that betrayed him.
