James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) travels to Russia for a new assignment. There, terrorists have seized control of a new secret complex called GoldenEye. It develops weapons to destroy computer equipment, so in the hands of the attackers is a leverage on the governments of all developed nations. To thwart the terrorists, Bond will have to fly a helicopter over Siberia, ride in a tank in St. Petersburg, and blow up an armored train.

In the mid-1990s, Martin Campbell gave the world an updated Bond after the previous classic "License to Kill" (1989). In "GoldenEye" shows the 'new Russians' driving a Ferrari on the Cote d'Azur, and shabby St. Petersburg, where foreign cars neighbor with old Kopeyka. If you want to get nostalgic, this movie is perfect for that.

Apollo 13 was planned to be the third spacecraft to take a crew to the moon for exploration. However, the mission was a failure. Already on the approach to the satellite on the ship had an accident, which not only prevented the landing of astronauts on the surface, but also questioned their return alive to Earth.

Despite the year of release of the picture "Apollo 13", it remains the most realistic movie about space flight, filmed in an extremely believable and accurate way. Preparation for production took several years: it took a long time to collect and process all available scientific and technical info. Some of the launch footage was recreated from the actual timeline of the Apollo 11 dispatch.

In the year 2035, a monstrous virus has almost completely wiped out humanity. Only 1% of the population is left alive, and those are forced to go to live underground. To remedy the situation, outstanding minds organize a trip on a time machine. Criminal James Cole (Bruce Willis) is chosen as a volunteer for the deadly mission. He must travel back in time and help scientists eliminate the source of the terrible pandemic, as well as solve the mystery of the society "12 Monkeys", which spread the virus.

Pandemic is now one of the basic fears of the modern inhabitant of the planet, so movies about deadly viruses are still as relevant as ever.

4. "Hate" / La Haine

  • 1995

In the Paris of the 1990s, there is always room for arbitrariness. It reigns not in the central prestigious neighborhoods, but on the outskirts, where the world exists according to its own laws. One day, a wave of riots begins in one of these ghettos. They are provoked by the murder of an Arab teenager. Three friends living in the neighborhood — Vinz (Vincent Cassel), Saïd (Saïd Taghmaoui), and Hubert (Hubert Koundé) — decide to avenge the cops for a friend.

"Hate" became a cult movie, turning into a manifesto of the inhabitants of dysfunctional suburbs. It inspired many screen stories about the residents of the Paris ghetto, including Luc Besson's "District 13" and "Justice"'s music videos. Today, the young troublemakers from the neighborhoods are back on trend, just as they were in the 1990s. Proof of this is the plethora of series about street gangs that have come out in recent years.

3. "Braveheart"

  • 1995
  • USA
  • Military, history, biography, drama
  • Director: Mel Gibson
  • Starring: Mel Gibson, Sophie Marceau, Patrick McGoohan, Angus McFadyen, Brendan Gleeson
  • IMDb Rating: 8.3

1280. The English king and his troops have occupied a large part of the Scottish lands. William Wallace's (Mel Gibson) father and older brother are killed fighting the king's troops. The boy is only ten years old. He is taken into care by his uncle. After 20 years, William returns to his native village, but English soldiers once again interfere in his life. Thus begins a long and bloody war for freedom.

Despite numerous historical inaccuracies and bloopers, "Braveheart" still holds the title of the ideal historical action movie for all times. The film won five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director (Mel Gibson).

Working together with Neil is considered an honor by the pros of the criminal world, and his own motto is to not get attached to anyone. At one point on Neil's trail comes police officer Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino), who also earned the title of the best of the best.

"Heat" is the most successful in terms of commercial project in the career of Michael Mann. With a budget of $60 million, it earned $187 million at the worldwide box office.

1. "Se7en"

  • 1995
  • USA
  • Thriller, detective, crime, drama
  • Director: David Fincher
  • Starring: Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey, Gwyneth Paltrow, R. Lee Ermey
  • IMDb Rating: 8.6

кадр из фильма «Семь»

Detectives Somerset (Morgan Freeman) and Mills (Brad Pitt) investigate serial killer John Doe (Kevin Spacey), who punishes victims for 'mortal sins'. Obsessed with the idea of punishment, he subjects people to physical and moral suffering, which he prepares with cold calculation. The maniac leaves at the crime scenes only the name of the sin the victim committed and a clever clue-puzzle to find the next corpse.

"Se7en" even now, 30 years later, produces a deafening, simply stunning effect. Fincher created a unique atmosphere, which is still actively copied, and created a trend for conceptual maniacs, which remains relevant in modern cinema.

1995... the year of the release of Mortal Kombat and the first Toy Story))). The latter, by the way, is also very highly rated). But the top 3 here is very good, "Seven" is still my favorite detective thriller.

So you look at the selection and think: 1995 - 7 films with a high rating, I didn't watch all of them, but those that I saw from the selection, you really remember in 30 years, 2025 - I can't remember a single such vivid film for this or last year.

Oh, these films are 30 years old this year, and I'm 30 years old this year. What a coincidence! No, well, God himself ordered me to look at the masterpieces, otherwise I didn't see anything else except Seven from the collection.

Golden Eye and Apollo 13 are already classics)
Actually, I reviewed the entire bond at the time.

I remember 12 Monkeys a little worse, but it was also a good movie at the time.

In general, my favorite films of 1995, even if not with a special rating, but loved by the audience: Jumanji, Two: Me and My Shadow, Waterworld, Casper, Toy Story, Pocahontas, Goofy While You Were Sleeping ❤

I watched the fight recently. And to be honest, I didn't understand him, the movie was too long. Maybe he was a cult figure at one time. But the main stars of the film are playing 100%.

I watched Braveheart on a cassette as a child. The film has 10 points. A strong film about courage, about heroism, about independence. I advise everyone to watch it.

The only thing I haven't watched is Apollo 13 - I'm not a fan of Ron Howard. Overall, the list is decent. I would put such a top for myself:
6. GoldenEye - Campbell is good, but in ten years he will earn a more legendary franchise.;
5. Braveheart - Gibson is a good director, but not a great film, even from his work at the turn of the century;
4. Seven - Fincher: The beginning, go in from here
3. La Haine is a gun-style, Cassel got into this game with his feet
2 - 1. Heat / 12 Monkeys - the most extraordinary films from the list, which are less outdated than others. I recently reviewed the fight, I categorically disagree that it is delayed (his modern cyber is delayed, but there are no unnecessary plans at all. The questions are more about attention deficit in the tiktok era).

I would have added 1995 to the top 10 of the highly rated ones.:
The Fargo- Cohens have been great since their debut, and this one is the most popular, but that's not why it's worse;
The Bridges of Madison County - if a melodrama, then only this
Casino - Marty - dad
Dead Man - Jim - dad

Out of competition, but in the heart:
Showgirls - Great, but Low-rated, doesn't Fit the Rules
Before Sunrise is not so good apart from the whole trilogy, the trilogy is powerful.

Right now, I've sorted the films for 1995 on the search site.
Is the iconic Ghost in armor https://myshows.me/movie/2211 / not worthy of mention? I think. that many people remember him.
U Mind and Feelings https://myshows.me/movie/4766 / the rating is not lower than those mentioned. The movie was popular.
And the Water World https://myshows.me/movie/4786 / a great movie, too, with a pretty good rating.
And of course, the peculiarities of national hunting https://myshows.me/movie/4756/
How can I forget this movie? If you want to, you won't forget.

@Kookaburra: I agree, but there are a couple of nuances: The Water World is gorgeous and can even be considered one of the iconic post-apocalypses, but unfortunately it totally failed at the box office. I would love to check out the second part. "Features of national hunting" cult only in the Russian Federation, maybe even in some CIS countries. And "Ghost in the Shell " became wildly popular with the release of the series, before that rather in narrow circles.

@Kookaburra: Respect for the water world. I remembered him a couple of weeks ago.

I share the opinion that there were probably more than 7 good films released in 1995.
of those that I personally liked very much, and which others did not write about.:

Batman Forever / Batman Forever https://myshows.me/movie/2064 / - the scrap caste! The best Batman, for my taste.
Judge Dredd / Judge Dredd https://myshows.me/movie/70671 / - classic
Johnny Mnemonic / Johnny Mnemonic https://myshows.me/movie/70803 / - good technical fiction

Seven is the most beloved thriller of the 90s
I remember how incredibly shocked I was after the first viewing. I review it periodically with great pleasure.
