After canceling the continuation of the comedy series "The Sex Lives of College Girls" streaming service Max the show will not continue.
"We were very much hoping to find a new home for that one, and I think we’ve now come to the end of the road, which is disappointing, because it’s a show that we really loveю I’m so proud of the three seasons that we did at Max but I don’t think there’s going to be more of 'College Girls'", — said Warner Bros. head of Warner Bros. TV Group Channing Dungey.
The sitcom, created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble, was about the lives of four female students at an elite college. It received good reviews for its bold humor and fresh take on female friendship, sex, and growing up. After the cancelation in March, the studio tried to negotiate a deal with Netflix: Kaling already has successful projects in cooperation with the platform. However, complex legal issues surrounding the rights to previous seasons in different countries made a deal unlikely.
After the announcement of the cancellation, Justin Noble wrote on social media:
"II can’t help but mention that it feels like there are fewer and fewer comedy series every month — and we are living in an era where we need that comedy badly. So I really hope that turns around, but I will always be proud of this show for being the things that we weren’t seeing enough of: a hard comedy ensemble where ladies get the jokes".
