The director of "10 Things I Hate About You" is planning a sequel trilogy with a tribute to Heath Ledger

Gil Junger, director of "10 Things I Hate About You" (1999), is working on a sequel in the form of three feature films. The first of them has already received the working title "10 Things I Hate About Dating", followed by "10 Things I Hate About Marriage" and "10 Things I Hate About Kids". Junger is writing the script with Naya Elle James.
While the project has yet to be officially confirmed, the director said in an interview with People magazine that the movie is in active development. The new story is inspired not only by Shakespeare, as was the case with the original, but also by Molière's play "The Misanthrope". Junger admitted that he would like to work with Julia Stiles again, as her character Kat has become a true voice of a generation. He also hopes that some of the actors from the first movie will be able to appear in the sequel, albeit in cameos.
Special attention will be paid to the memory of Heath Ledger, who played Patrick.
"I think that’s a beautiful idea, and the answer is now going to be yes. …He deserves to be loved", — said Janger.
Recall that the actor passed away in 2008, but his role in "10 Things I Hate About You" forever remained in the hearts of viewers.
