"La La Land" director Damien Chazelle is changing plans: instead of a biopic about Evel Knievel, he's preparing a chamber project about prison.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Craig and Murphy are in talks to star in a new Damien Chazelle movie set in a prison. The plot is being kept secret for now, but it's known that it will be a two-character story — likely a psychological thriller or an escape or confrontation drama.

The project will be a turnaround for Chazelle: he originally planned to shoot a biopic about stuntman Evel Knievel with Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role, but the actor preferred to return to Martin Scorsese. After that, the director restarted the idea with a prison movie — and now the main roles are claimed Oscar winner Cillian Murphy ("Oppenheimer") and ex-Bond Daniel Craig.

Production will be handled by Paramount Studios in association with Wild Chickens Productions. Shooting is scheduled for the end of 2025.

Creatively, Chazelle has not let down a bit yet, but the problems with the Babylon box office and the prison theme are associated with the sequel to the Joker. On the other hand, closeness played into his hands in Obsession, and it was easier to beat off the budget. DiCaprio is already doing something quite greenhouse-like. But it can be scary after Babylon. Damien should maybe take advantage of the experience and also return to his golden caste of Obsession, Emma also did not work out in the future, and she, like Leo, prefers her favorite director. The trend is straight forward. Although the caste here is also encouraging, it did not help Babylon.
