Disney+ launches the Indian adaptation of "Monk" starring Ram Kapoor
The Guardian

Disney+ Hotstar platform is gearing up to premiere the Indian adaptation of the American hit "Monk". The story centers on private detective Armaan Mistry (Adrian Monk in the original), played by Ram Kapoor. The new hero also suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder, but he brilliantly solves the most complex crimes.

Along with Kapoor in the series will star Mona Singh (as officer Sehmat Siddiqui), Shikha Talsania, and Kshitish Date. The project is titled "Mistry" and will be the first remake of the show in South Asia. The series is being produced with the collaboration of Banijay Asia and Universal International Studios and is directed by Rishab Seth.

Ram Kapoor said that the role of Armaan was special for him:

"The whole experience of shooting Mistry was so immersive – I have deep dived into this character and understood his quirks, his brilliance and his vulnerabilities. It is a character very close to my heart and I am thrilled with how it has come out".

Representatives of the studios stressed that the series combines "crime, humor, and soulfulness" and retains the spirit of the original with a local presentation.

I liked the original for its sincerity. Therefore, it is more important who will play his nurse.

Monk once had a cameo in The Seer. It was fun.
