On the neighborhood and in the mansions: 7 series where crime is a profession and art

"Ray Donovan"
Action, crime, drama | 4.02 out of 5 on MyShows | 7 seasons | 2013 — 2020
Ray Donovan is a "fixer" for L.A.'s rich and powerful clients: eliminating evidence, intimidating witnesses, and solving scandals before they hit the press. And unlike his clients, Ray hails from South Boston and has carried the weight of a difficult past all his life. When his father gets out of prison, it sets off a chain of events that causes both Ray's job and family to start falling apart. The more he saves others — the deeper he sinks himself.
"For a long time I saw good reviews of the series, but everything was lazy to watch. Finally got in the right mood. I downloaded it.
I'm shocked. It's awesome. The series is distinctive and original, but at the same time the atmosphere is reminiscent of many other movies and series (The Sopranos, Californication, Psychoanalyst with Kevin Spacey, etc.). Grim, cynical and mesmerizingly serious. Really enjoyed Ray's relationship with his wife. Really mature and sensible - the wife understands everything, although she is offended. Jon Voight as the father is unparalleled. In general, with pleasure I will continue to watch and for a long time I will bend myself that so long delayed with watching this series", — emmafag
"How many times I started watching this series and only with the 3rd time really went in and liked the pilot. To all who did not really like the first series, I recommend to reconsider later (it works for me with many series), not the mood, business, weather...xD many reasons!
The series is good, now I got into the atmosphere, and the characters, and the plot. Loved everything about it! Liev Schreiber is one love", — VandaVanda
"The season is a cannon. Although the series is criminal, but there are a lot of touching scenes and moments. Sometimes tears come, and sometimes anger for the injustice. I'm watching further", — vafinskaya

The plot revolves around the Savastano drug clan and its cronies: heir Gennaro, mercenary Ciro, and other key figures. "European cinema takes quality script. Not expensive special effects. Like this series. And the high IMDb rating is due to the fact that the main audience is Italians, who have an idea of the crime problem rising here. I will give a quote from a review on the movie search: "If you have never been in Italy, then everything you see may seem frightening, sometimes even wild for modern society. Heroes amaze with their ruthlessness and cold-bloodedness in the pursuit of goals by any means and methods. This is the Italian reality today. We do not have the opportunity to verify the authenticity of the events described, but if there is a discrepancy with real life, it does not seem to be so great", — wobls
"The first episode hooked me immediately. I've never watched an Italian series before and I'm surprised at how high quality the pilot is. Ciro is a charismatic type, it will be interesting to follow the development of this character)", — VandaVanda
"If you are a fan of crime series, ala The Sopranos, with a cleverly woven plot and constantly changing by circumstances of the characters - then I recommend it. Also very much enjoyed the soundtracks to the first season", — Garfield-J

"Luther"
Thriller, crime, drama | 4.27 out of 5 on MyShows | 5 seasons | 2010 — 2023
The story of brilliant detective John Luther, who proves that being a dirty cop and using dirty methods are not the same thing. He catches London's most dangerous criminals, relying on intuition, psychology, and his own — sometimes questionable — methods. His statistics are impressive, but how long will his rules work in a world where the law loves letters over nuance?
"Watching it all over again!!! Didn't realize there would be a season in 2019... and watched when "my shows" weren't even on yet))))) Naturally need to refresh the plot... but Idris Elba - he sure is 💕", — ilushkina2001
"John Luther season after season heroically tries to work things out, but people keep dying around him all the time. Maybe Alice was right and he really doesn't know what love and caring for his loved ones is. Maybe Katherine was right too: he needs to constantly do heroic things and is able to use his loved ones as bait. I used to sympathize with his character, I thought he was haunted by an evil doom, but now..." — Destiny_Ocean
"In a week I watched all 5 seasons (I didn't watch before), I agree - the first 3 are the best and the ending of the 3rd would be a perfect ending to the series, but I also watched 4/5 with pleasure, although I had a feeling that something was missing. even in the 5th season the writers continue to surprise, in general Idris has a great role, I would continue to watch his adventures once in a couple of times", — kobiii

"At first it seemed that the series would be boring, but by the end of 1 series so ramped up the narrative that it became very interesting how events will develop further. Well and "good old England" is good!" — nrv_rus
"Great series. I cried, I worried, I. felt a lot of things. The main character is an incredible woman. How can you take so much", — SmileSun
"A glorious British village detective, also a bit Tarantino-esque, because so many murders in the end, oh yay. The first season is watchable in one breath. Basically, so far so good", — Mr_Mopk

"If 'Golak' had gotten serious, it would have turned out to be this series", — Ourus
"The style from the first frames, the first scene and immediately filmed in one shot. The characters are as colorful as ever and the action is great. Thanks Guy Ritchie, this genre is definitely his", — Sich666
"A visual treat. The musical accompaniment is also a joy", — dddrose
Regarding Gentlemen and Luther, this is a real top delight)
But Ray and the Power, I'll say this, the last seasonal ones are like pulling a cat on a globe, they are too long. Although the series themselves are good, they are stretched, I used to watch them with difficulty. But still, Ray has a full meter, Power has as many as three spinoffs - but I'll be honest, only the fourth Book is good there: Power)
I would add a Naked Man (he's Penniless), a big jackpot, and perhaps the recently released Gangsterland.
is a great series, the first seasons of which are scripted just great. Every episode of the season escalates, Chekhov's guns are hung up, and at the end of the season, everything just culminates and almost all the guns make bangs. And those that don't are a great foundation for future seasons!
However, somewhere after season 3, not everything is so harmonious anymore, and season 5 turned out to be painfully different, but still great.
Well, I'm glad that we still got the final film. And then when it was closed without a finale, I was already stunned.
In general, if you like leisurely things, that's it.
+ offhand:
Love/Hate
Purchase
Gangs of London
Relatives
Naked
The big jackpot
Lillehammer
Datura
According to the wolf laws
Ozark
With old hits like The Sopranos, Auditions, Heavy, Fargo, OZ, etc. - and so everything is clear to everyone.
All the other series are waiting in line, and they even seem to be closed, in the absence of good criminal ones, I'm thinking of watching Ray and Gomorrah, I hope for strong dramas about difficult people's lives.
