The series is told from the point of view of two characters - Noah and Alison. Their versions of what happened do not overlap in many ways, although they tell about the same events. They tell their stories not just for fun, but to a detective (a very interesting character) investigating the murder of someone - who is unknown. The intrigue builds. So essentially we don't know which of what is shown is true and which is false. Nobody wants to appear as a bad person in the eyes of the detective and tries to whitewash himself.
Alison changes most of all, depending on the narrator. The episode with the rescue of the girl is interesting. What is also interesting in the series is that the "twists and turns" (one of them occurs in the 6th episode) are not taken from the ceiling, but we are hinted at them from the first one", — mrValera

I quit "Lovers" in the first season, yes, the atmosphere is interesting, but it's very hard to watch. Maybe it's worth trying again, but the mood wasn't the same.
