I don't know if I've grown up completely, or if horror movies have become different... They don't scare you at all.

@Liyuuuuunder: everything is right. Horror movies are not as scary, comedies are not as funny as they were in the noughties and 90s.🥲
(all hope for a new part of a Very scary movie. they threaten to return the "same" humor)

as it is, not a single horror movie that has been released recently would want to review it again.
Well, maybe the Indonesians only managed to surprise me with something in their horror crafts.

@Tikhonov91: But what about sinners and tools? The Oscars were picked up, and very good ones came out of the latter. They can also be reviewed. It will be possible to review about five films of the year 25 in this genre.
@Tikhonov91: That's right, and it's really cool that the cast from the first parts is returning.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to it. 🤤😅

@MoonRine: these films are so good, talked about, and all that. did they pick up awards there, etc
. did they surprise me with something new? Well, not really. although I appreciated them quite well. I personally don't want to review them. they did not sink into the soul at all and eventually forgot themselves. perhaps this is all because of the large amount of such content, or as you wrote below about "the most terrifying horror movie."

I laughed from the picture!
Well, such horrors, "light", or something. Specifically, in all these paintings, the atmosphere of horror is faintly felt. But it's such a broad-based genre now that the term "horror" is being applied to anything. I once felt the atmosphere of real horror when I first watched Sinister. Not before, not after watching horror movies, it wasn't so creepy.

@Prime_Voyager: There are plenty of films on a level with Sinester in terms of atmosphere and entourage, that's a fact.

And as for nothing else that scares, subjectively, everyone has a horror movie that scared the shit out of them first, and then it wasn't so scary. These are the features of human psychology.

** "28 years later"** I've already watched it. I liked it! But this, however, is a taste, if it didn't go in at first, then you won't like this part either.

** "I'm going to look for it" ** I'm going to look. The first part was nothing like that

I'll add more here ** "whistle"**. I plan to take a look too.

And by the way, Silent Hill is new, but it has such a bad rating that I somehow doubt whether it's worth watching at all.

@stellary: "Silent Hill" is terrible, this is a case where low ratings are absolutely justified. The timing is too short, the action is too fast and jerky, and there are a million (unnecessary) flashbacks from the hero's life, which makes it impossible to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of horror that should be here. Surprisingly, it was directed by the director of the very first part, which, to my taste, was very good.

@stellary: I also love them and periodically review them, especially the super atmospheric first one. Yes, and the second one, although I got a lot of money at the time, still turned out to be a pleasant film for me, albeit not without flaws. I want to believe that one day the franchise will be lucky and we will get the Salent Hill that we deserve (if only in the form of a series to fit everything)

Although it's not 2025, I really liked the "Terrifying" franchise. Clown Art topchik!

I'm also excited about the horror films of the B category based on Disney characters: Winnie the Pooh, Bambi, and so on. It's crazy, unusual, and it's really something new.

I saw a man in a post here who claimed that some kind of horror movie was bad, and as a person who understands the genre, he drew such conclusions, while noting 50 horror films viewed. At what point do you think you can consider yourself a knowledgeable person? I've seen about 800 horror films, both classics of the genre of the 50s and 60s and outright trash. After how many films can a person be considered highly experienced in the genre and considered an authoritative opinion on this issue? Do I need to know the origins and classics of the genre? Or watch 200 films in which guts were shown?

The horror tag is now being molded wherever it gets, like, for example, a black comedy, there are only a couple of works on the list that can be attributed to those with a creak.
At the same time, there is no best thing in the genre - Bring her back from the dead.

I still wouldn't recommend "Voice Assistant" and "Night of the reaper". From myself, as has been repeatedly advised here, I would also add "bring her back from the dead" and "one whole". At least these films have a lot more meaning and subtext than the Alice the Killer column, which a crowd of dumb and spineless thirty-year-olds can't resist.

That's it, since we've already discussed it, we can speak out. You won't see horror movies like you did 20 years ago.) First of all, over the years we have already been scared in such a way that it is good for most fans of the genre if the poker face can be knocked down with a couple of successful screamers or the heartbeat can be accelerated by excellent atmosphere. At best, it can cause an acute attack of nostalgia, but not frighten, as before). Secondly, they are no longer filming for us. Another generation and other films. I'm also counting on a "Very scary movie", but you must agree, first of all we want to laugh at the parody of AI there, and it's unlikely to be really scared at least once))). But the fact that almost half of modern Western films with the horror tag turn out to be a mystical/psychological thriller or black comedy is absolutely certain.

@karaspunk: in the noughties, many of the top horror films also shot back). "Wrong Turn", "Saw", "Descent", "Six Demons of Emily Rose", "Destination", "Astral", "Bell", "Mirrors", "Curse", etc. Even at the beginning of the tenth there was the same aforementioned "Sinister" or "Cabin in the woods". Maybe not the best, but it's close to it. And memorable for many years to come. But have there been such decent ones in the last decade? I'm not sure if I'll name anything other than a series about the same Art or some sequels/remakes of old franchises.
@Hidji: Our generation needs to do the most difficult thing – to rebuild itself without forgetting about itself. Now there are also great projects, it's just a little harder to find them, but you get used to this complexity, and in the future you come up with some life hacks to simplify your search for a needle in a haystack. And it's interesting, and I'm curious where the search will lead. The age of information "obesity" forces us to be critical of everything does not help at all, and maneuvering among thousands of opinions improves us not only in finding interesting content, but also in the social component. 😂

@marlenad_13: In general, it's hard to blame me for my outdated views on modern cinema, I try to be extremely objective. I've already learned how to underestimate grades for personal reasons and am trying to stop overestimating (the latter is more difficult because of nostalgic feelings). Even in the current era of remakes/sequels/prequels/spins, I try to see more than copies. I also struggle with the "duck syndrome" in every possible way))). But it's inevitable. And if there is sometimes something fresh and fascinating in other genres, then horror... In our film distribution, this genre is now at a historical maximum in terms of annual premieres, even if horror is far from its "golden age". Therefore, his representatives often come across in the review. More than a hundred a year for sure. Subjectivity cannot be completely eliminated, but it seems that such a sample allows us to judge the real state of affairs). And there were almost no really cool horror movies.
