Search
The biggest set of updates was in search. We completely redesigned it, and now we have:
- Suggestions as you type.
- Suggestions if you don't type anything.
- A unified search page where we display results for movies, TV shows, and actors.
But most importantly, we’ve updated the search system: finding content is now easier and faster. We’ve implemented several algorithms that make search smarter, more accurate, and more forgiving of typos.
Key improvements

Smart transliteration: you can now enter titles in Latin script, and the search will recognize that
sherlokis 'Sherlock'. -
Advanced morphology: the system takes into account different word forms and declensions for both Russian and English (for example, a search for
alienswill find 'Alien'). -
Error handling: thanks to trigram search (matching parts of words), the system will return the correct result even if you make a typo.

Spam filtering: we’ve trained the search to ignore English stop words (
a,the,in, and others) so they don’t overload the results.
How ranking works now
We’ve revised the logic for sorting results so that the most relevant results always appear at the top:

Match priority: titles that start exactly with your search query are ranked highest.

Popularity matters: popular projects (with a high number of views) get an extra "boost" and appear above less well-known alternatives.

Exact matches: if a title exactly matches your query and has over 100 views, it automatically becomes a priority.

Algorithm balance: full-text search by titles and synonyms now carries more weight than trigram search based on typos, making search results more relevant.
Movie and TV show pages
- Reworked ratings: we’ve prominently displayed the Kinopoisk and IMDb ratings to make it easier to decide what to watch.
- "Where to Watch" buttons: we’ve streamlined the display of buttons linking to platforms where you can watch a TV series or movie.
- Viewing progress: the TV series page now includes an additional indicator showing what percentage of the series you’ve watched.
We’ve also highlighted the stars so you don’t forget to rate shows, and added a list of all your friends who are watching the same series. By the way, this section is now available on the mobile version too.
Catalog Page
You’ve been asking for a long time to add sorting by release date — now it’s here. You can also now add a movie or series to your watchlist, favorites, or mark it as uninteresting from any list.
Appearance of Curated Lists
Now collections no longer appear as a carousel but as a card showing the number of titles in the collection.

Actor nominations in polls

Important nuances:

I would like that when you select the series that have not been added, only those that I have not yet distributed will appear. This button is useless if the front pages are all filled with gray TV shows that I'm not interested in. Please make sure that they are not shown when selecting "Not added".
I also appreciated that it is now possible to set multiple filters at once when searching. Previously, it was possible to select a year/genre separately, etc., but it was impossible to combine them. Either all the films of 2024, or all the comedies, for example. Now you can combine and filter, for example, all the comedies of 2024.
But for some reason, I didn't find the "uninteresting" button either in the bucket's application or on the site (the browser is from the same bucket).

I tried to search for a series that was recently added to tvmaze and I got "Nothing found :-(", but if you look through DevTools in chrome, you can see that the series was found in the HTTP response.

I think I've found a small bug in the iOS app. It appears when you like a comment with a
strikeout, it is transferred to another comment. You remove the like, the third comment and nickname are crossed out. A like on the third one leads to the fact that the entire branch is crossed out. The bug disappears when you remove all the likes, close the episode page, and then go back to it.~~The bug is in place. I couldn 't repeat it here .
Sometimes you need to remove all the garbage that 4 people are watching, but at the same time get rid of the popular one that you've seen.

"I will be watching" status: This section is currently in an inconvenient place, and there are no release notifications for it. Because of this, I have to mark it in "Watching now" to see which series to watch for the future.
Movie notifications: There are also no notifications about the availability of movies that have already been released.
