Major Zherehov seems to have a well-ordered life: a wife, a 10-year-old daughter, and a secret affair with investigator Ivolgina. She is convinced that the disappearances of five young women in different parts of the Vladimir region are connected and that a serial killer is behind them. The investigator demands that a case be opened, but Zherekhov is against it: there are neither bodies nor evidence. However, Ivolgina has no intention of backing down and continues the investigation, which she herself calls “The Invisible Woman Case.”
