Helena Bonham Carter will no longer appear in the fourth season of *The White Lotus*, despite having previously been announced as part of the main cast. Production on the season is proceeding as scheduled. For *The White Lotus*, where casting is typically considered one of the project’s strongest points, this is a rare instance of a major casting change occurring after production has already begun.

According to foreign media reports, the actress left the project nine days after filming began. The decision was made not to recast her role but to completely rewrite it. The decision was creative in nature and related to how the character functioned within the story, rather than to scheduling conflicts or contractual issues.

Filming for the new season is taking place on the French Riviera—in Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Monaco, and Paris. The cast remains unchanged, featuring Steve Coogan, Vincent Cassel, Kumail Nanjiani, Rosie Perez, Heather Graham, Chris Messina, and Max Greenfield.

Mike White’s “The White Lotus” has been airing since 2021 and has become one of HBO’s biggest hits. The first season won ten Emmy Awards, the second brought awards to Jennifer Coolidge and the series itself, and the third continued the anthology in a new setting.
