The teaser trailer for Zak Krager's film Resident Evil has been released

The creator of *Varvara* and *Oruj* has released the first images from the new version of the cult horror franchise. The premiere is set for fall 2026.

The teaser trailer for *Resident Evil*, directed by Zach Kragger (*Barbarian*, *Weapons*),has been released. The first footage was previously shown at industry events, including CinemaCon, and the trailer is now generating a lot of buzz online due to its intense scenes and survival-themed atmosphere. The film is scheduled to premiere on September 18, 2026.

The film is set in Raccoon City during a viral outbreak. A courier arrives at an infected hospital on a mission but finds himself at the epicenter of the disaster and tries to escape the city overrun by mutated creatures. The film emphasizes horror and survival rather than action scenes in the style of previous adaptations.

The new version is positioned as a more standalone story within the familiar universe. Theprevious series of films based on the game "Resident Evil" was released from 2002 to 2021 and consists of six installments. Milla Jovovich starred in them. The series became one of the highest-grossing video game adaptations, grossing over a billion dollars worldwide. In 2021 , the reboot *Resident Evil: Raccoon City* was also released , which attempted to adapt the plot of the first games more closely but received mixed reviews and did not continue the franchise as a new series of films.

The pros are Raccoon City, the hospital, and most importantly, what I always wanted to see was the beginning of general chaos. Cons - well, for now, probably the lack of Cute.
The teaser didn't load up again, then I'll look on YouTube, maybe something else will be added) in general, I'm waiting)

@karaspunk: The second film is on the same level and also very much in the spirit of games! Although in general I would separate movies and games. No one has yet managed to transfer a particularly good gaming atmosphere to the cinema. Silent Hill? No. Last of the ace? Not either..

I love this universe and I'll watch it anyway, but half of the teaser is a kid calling somewhere, the other half is a kid running somewhere, where Harkonen from Dune is waiting for him in the sewer. Somehow, damn, there aren't enough actors.
