Aidan Gillen, Indira Varma, and Olivia Williams have joined the cast of the second season of *Young Sherlock*

Amazon announced that Aidan Gillen (“The Wire”), Indira Varma (“Cold Water”), and Olivia Williams (“The Double”)will star in the second season of the series “Young Sherlock.” The specific characters the actors will portray have not yet been revealed. At the same time, the studio confirmed that filming for the new season has begun.

Hiro Fiennes Tiffin will return to the role of young Sherlock Holmes. Donal Finn, Zin Zeng, Max Irons, Natasha McElhone, and Joseph Fiennes will also reprise their roles in the new episodes. One of the episodes will be directed by Guy Ritchie, who remains an executive producer on the project. Matthew Parkhill will once again serve as showrunner for the sequel.

The first season premiered on Prime Video in March 2026 and was soon renewed. The story served as a prequel to Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic works, depicting Sherlock’s first encounter with James Moriarty as well as the origins of the future famous detective. Details of the second season’s plot are still being kept under wraps.
