Paramount+ has ordered a sequel to *Clueless* starring Alicia Silverstone

Paramount+ has officially ordered a TV series sequel to the movie *Clueless*. Alicia Silverstone will once again star in the lead role and has also become an executive producer on the project. The sequel was previously in development for Peacock, but in 2026, the service dropped the series before production even began.
The story will take place 30 years after the events of the 1995 film. Sher Horowitz is now a successful businesswoman and the mother of a teenage daughter, whom she must raise. The screenplay is being written by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (“Gossip Girl”), and one of the executive producers is Amy Heckerling, who directed the original film. Filming is scheduled to begin in 2027 in Los Angeles.
The film *Clueless* was released in 1995 and served as a modern adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel *Emma*. The film grossed over $56 million on a budget of $12 million and eventually achieved cult status as a teen comedy. It is not yet known whether Paul Rudd, Stacy Dash, Donald Faison, and other actors from the original film will reprise their roles.

What about
Mr. KnightleyPaul Rudd? So Austen's characters (even if loosely interpreted) won't be with each other until the end? It's modern."Clueless" is so saturated with the 90s that the heroes probably have Jupi instead of blood. I doubt that the film will survive teleportation to modern times. Although betting on the opposition of generations in theory can work... But why ? Judging by current trends, self-repetitions of nostalgia will be waiting for us. The references to this film have already been gracefully handled by "Emma" in 2020, but it looked interesting in the original setting of the book.
