Streaming service Max has renewed animated series "Harley Quinn" for a fifth season. The comedy project, starring Kaley Cuoco from "The Big Bang Theory", is expected to return next year.
The animated series follows the life of Harley Quinn after her breakup with the Joker. She decides to join the other villains of the DC Universe: Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and Scarecrow to become the head of Gotham's underworld.
In season four, Harley began working with the Bat-family, including Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl, while Ivy took on a new role as CEO of the Legion of Doom. And the more their careers develop, the more strained Harley and Ivy's relationship becomes.
The animated project has been a hit for Max, and the service has even ordered a Harley Quinn spin-off, Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, which will tell the story of Kite Man. The project is being developed by Justin Halpern and Patrick Shumaker, the showrunners of the first three seasons of "Harley Quinn," and will premiere in 2024.
