Edward Berger's picture is based on the debut novel of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque, based on his personal experience. Berger did an excellent job: the project received nine nominations for Oscar, including for Best Film. But despite the success of the picture, many consider it worse than the previous screenings of "All Quiet on the Western Front" in 1930 and 1979. We recommend watching those, too.
"A heavy war movie, psychologically pressing on a person while watching it. Throughout the 2+ hours you worry with all your heart for the main character. The movie's color-correctness keeps you in suspense all the time: the lack of soft colors echoes my words. The unpredictability of the character's actions coincides with the linear composition of the movie - which is competently narrated in the book. Definitely recommended viewing," - lemulya.

"Coppola worried in vain about Brando and his weight. In my opinion, it worked out to shoot him the only right way and show Col. Kurtz as a monolith. He's like a pagan idol looming over Willard. The effect is really awesome and creepy", — Will_I_am.

Platoon, the Apocalypse is no less brutal. There is also Salvador of the same Stone.
It would be nice if in the future the second part was released on the topic of the Soviet ones, so that more people would know about the films not mentioned)
And another one, definitely not the best, but released recently. And it's better to treat it like a film placed in a military setting "Civil war" 2024.
