The "real" Martha from the TV series "Baby Reindeer" is suing Netflix
Fiona Harvey, who is believed to be the prototypical stalker Martha Scott from the TV series "Baby Reindeer", has sued Netflix. The woman is seeking $170 million for defamation and negligence.
"This is an action by Plaintiff Fiona Harvey (“Harvey”) against Defendants Netflix, Inc. and Netflix Worldwide Entertainment (collectively “Netflix”), for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, gross negligence, and violations of Harvey’s right of publicity, arising out of the brutal lies Defendants told about her in the television series,"Baby Reindeer", — reads the lawsuit filed in federal court in Los Angeles.
Richard Gadd's series "Baby Reindeer" was released on Netflix on April 11. The project, which is being presented as a "true story", is about a hapless comedian named Donny. One day he treats a sad girl, Martha, to a cup of tea, unaware that this will be the beginning of a crazy obsession that will ruin both their lives. The role of Martha in the series is played by Jessica Gunning.
After the release of the project, fans quickly found the "real" Martha in social networks. She turned out to be Scottish-born Fiona Harvey, who in an interview with journalist Piers Morgan Harvey confirmed that she knew Gadd, but denied allegations of stalking and sexualized violence.

But it seems that netflix lawyers should have analyzed this version of events at the post-production stage.
Well, it's really interesting how the whole thing will end. If there really are audio recordings, correspondence, then most likely it will be difficult to present something in the case of libel. But some compensation for the bullying that followed after the series and the psychological trauma from it is possible.
In general, the defense can have many strategies, if the lady still pursued the main character and there is evidence of this, then you can put pressure on the fact that he originally had a psychological trauma, which he could solve only by making it all public.
But for me, in general, the most important open question is why there are no questions to the fucking rapist producer and lawsuits with him, and everything revolves around this lady, who probably has problems in her life anyway.
>why are there no questions for a fucking rapist producer
Whoever has the money is right
I was also thinking about how she would react to this series....

Are there any arguments to support your version? It's okay if you throw such accusations just because RTD is the only gay person you know. I'm just curious :)
but if you want it to be Reich, let it be Reich!

Okay. Actually... I don't know. It seems like something pushes away from such an outcome, because it kind of makes it clear that no matter how low you fall, you may be lucky. But... She's the same victim now. And the payment of moral damage takes place. You don't even need to read the news to understand that she is now being stalked as well. Well, her identity was found literally as soon as the series came out. And no one is wondering why. Is it worth reminding what kind of people can be cruel? For example, what happened to the actor who played Joffrey in Game of Thrones? But there was only a role... And here... Well, yes, the guy did a good job, spoke out, showed that stalking is bad (although his painful perception of it as what he needs is also bad), but he got rich on this story as well, where not only he is the main character. And it was his responsibility to keep the woman incognito, if not to pay for the use of her identity. So it's not Netflix that needs to be judged, but him.
