The comedy from the creator of "Teenage Bounty Hunters" will be released in July.

Netflix released the debut teaser of the comedy series "The Decameron", inspired by the work of the same name by Giovanni Boccaccio. In the video, the service announced the release date of the project: it will take place on July 25. On this day on Netflix will be released all eight episodes of the show.

The action of black comedy will unfold in 1348, when Europe was hit by a plague epidemic. Several noblemen and their servants decide to wait out the pandemic by going to a luxurious villa and throwing a lavish party. But the longer the party lasts, the less social rules the guests observe. Soon the villa begins a real struggle for survival.

The main roles in the project were played by Zosia Mamet from "Girls" and Tony Hale from "Arrested Development", and the creator and showrunner was Kathleen Jordan ("Teenage Bounty Hunters"). Also involved in the development of the comedy was Jenji Kohan, creator of the series "Orange Is the New Black".

The title of the book "Decameron" comes from the other Greek. "ten" and "day", literally translated as "Ten days". It was created by the author on the Greek model — in the manner of the title of one of the treatises of St. Ambrose of Milan — Hexaemeron ("Six Days"). In the Six Days, created by other medieval authors, it was usually told about the creation of the world by God in six days. The Decameron is also a book about the creation of the world. But the world is created in the Decameron not by God, but by human society — however, not in six, but in ten days. There are 100 short stories in the original collection.
It is impossible to step over Boccaccio with such a name - the series will be created in the image and likeness of ". There is a small chance that this is a dummy, but I don't believe in it much.

In my first year at the university, one of the questions on the foreign language came across just according to the Decameron. I told a few short stories to the teacher - it was fun, and I remember the old adaptation from Pasolini with the incredible Italian in Russia, Davoli, of course. It will be necessary to evaluate the new version.

A comedy based on this plot must be super-absurd to be funny, otherwise it will be some kind of inter-genre bullshit.

But in general, the Decameron is a really cool basis for an almanac series)
