HBO will not be making a spin-off about the Arkham Asylum psychiatric hospital. The series was conceived as a complement to the movie "The Batman".
The idea of creating a spin-off was first voiced back in 2020. It was assumed that the series would be devoted to the police of Gotham. Later it was decided to develop the plot around the villains who found themselves in "Arkham".
The producer was to be Matt Reeves ("Dawn of the Planet of the Apes"), showrunner — Antonio Campos ("Marvel's The Punisher").
A spin-off about mob genius Penguin, played by Colin Farrell ("The Banshees of Inisherin"), will be released on Max. The series will be available for viewing in the fall of 2026.
