Overview
"Unforgiven" tells the story of Ruth Slater (Suranne Jones) who has spent the past 15 years imprisoned for the murder of two policemen, and now faces the daunting prospect of rebuilding her life whilst being irresistibly drawn to the place that haunts her, Upper Hanging Stones Farm. In spite of trying to focus on the future and her new boyfriend Brad (Will Mellor), Ruth is unable to forget her past and the sister, Katie, who she was forced to leave behind. Outraged to hear that the woman who killed their father has been released, Kieran (Jack Deam) and Steve Whelan (Matthew McNulty) are eager to seek revenge. Believing that life should mean life, the two brothers decide to take the law into their own hands. But just how far are they capable of going? Can they really do to her what she did to their father?

A realistically sad plot. The main character needs to adapt to an unusual world for her. It is not necessary to count on the sympathy of others, her story is more likely to cause hostility, or even aggression. But most of all, she is not concerned about the attitude of others towards her, but about the fate of her only loved one - a little sister who was placed in foster care and, perhaps, no longer remembers the eldest. A much more serious danger is suddenly added to the rejection of society, legal and bureaucratic obstacles and the risk of returning to prison.
Well staged, filmed and mounted. Good dialogues. Great live characters. Suranne Jones again pleased with a very convincing performance. However, everything was played perfectly - wide, juicy, some scenes even with some anguish, but without theatricality, it is quite plausible.
It turned out to be dramatic, extremely emotional and diverse, from an almost heartwarming melodrama to a tense thriller. A very high-quality mini-series with a good, catchy and beautifully shown story.
Language. Situations and characters are very different, so they speak in a variety of ways, in pronunciation, in tempo and in complexity. However, I didn't notice any heavy accents at all, even the deliberately simple voice of the main character was not difficult. Subtitles won't hurt.
